Tank Bag Conversion for Photo Gear

The padded guts from Canon's backpack convert neatly into River Road's stacking tank bag system, holding lots of gear and making it easy to get to.

No effect unless you use microdrives and ride directly under a scrapyard electromagnet. If you have a portable hard drive/card dumper, just keep it in another bag if it worries you.

Another way to think of it is, if a mag bag doesn't affect your iPod, it won't affect your photo gear.

Hmm looks like a Canon 40D (i think)
Canon EF-S 10-22 and that might be a 200 non L lens. Nice...

A little small for a 40D...Looks more like a Rebel to me.

But I'm a Nikon guy, so

It's a Rebel. The 40D comes out for the paying customers. Canon EF 75-300, and an EF 18-55 on the body. The 10-22 is my favorite glass.

Also along for the ride is a GoPro Hero Cam, a Sony MiniDV Handycam and a Canon Sure Shot.

And for the magnets, I've never had any of my media affected, only the plate in my head when I tuck too low.

I took into account that it looked small but i was thinking small compared to my 5D.

My favourite canon lens is the 24-70L followed closely by the 70-200L IS. There is not much you cant do with the range on those 2 lenses.

Although i would have to rethink that if I was using a C size sensor.

Re: Tank Bag Conversion for Photo Gear

My daughter is riding pillion on our upcoming trip. I wear a small backpack with an external clip where she can secure either the rangefinder or the MiniDV cam while she's shooting the other. Both have wrist straps. We'll be posting media we've shot during the day to our website (below).

Re: Tank Bag Conversion for Photo Gear

i wouldn't even THINK about carrying that much photo gear on a bike... not only would you be out the damages of your bike but if you spent anything like i did on mine (or worse heisti) you'd be out the price of another bike....

Not to belittle heisti's gear but out would be out considerably more than the my bike is worth in the US.

I cant carry my gear on the bike in that way because the case is too big. (its larger than a givi topbox by a fair bit.)

But like jon and unlike Jon. We are both professional photographers, its just that he is doing it for a living, im not.. But I still have all the gear and its aimed primarily at motorsport photography so I have long fast lenses and they cost a mint..

The last work I had published was 2 years ago in Two Wheels magazine of Troy Corser rolling accross the track and being clipped by Alex Baross as he went past.. Nice 2 page spread... I was right pleased with myself.

But I mostly hire my (larger) long fast lenses now I cant afford to have $13000 AU tied up in a lens anymore.. (not when I can hire it for $500 for the weekend)

ive heard about this... you got any URLS? i mean im not a professional photographer either... but im trying to learn, just bought my first nikon dSLR last month, and taken close to 1000 pics, some look really cool... others might as well been done w/ a PAS camera.... got a really nice pic of a seagull and goose taking off in midflight, took up the whole frame.. just a lucky shot i suppose, but mainly i use it for my daughters, and my wife is a semi-pro studio photographer... so she's more interested in lighting and backgrounds and seat positions then anything else...
sorry for going off topic, at least its still in the photo area LOL
