Re: Corbin hardbags

Spatial relationships. When we hit the road on the 15th I'll document the packing and post. Not sure why you can't pull up the jpegs, they've been posted as such.

Re: Corbin hardbags

jpg not jpeg on my screen! I have the Corbin's and have this to say! MacBook Air just fits in one, courier bag (to carry MacBook Air when I'm walking around) fits in the other.... Have not done a trip yet but I'm sure it will be pack less, use zip locks and hope for the best.... or will that be add 1 Givi E55 top case?????

Re: Corbin hardbags

nice shots and yes now we can view them. I would love to see some footage shot from this set up. Do you have any posted anywhere. On anothe rnot I love the look of my Beetle Bags but I must say it's a pain the butt to have to empty my Macbook Air and other catalogues and notebooks ect out of my back pack and put them in one side and then fold up my small back pack and cram it in the other side. It looks like I'm going to have to add the Givi E55 for this application. Then I can just through my bag in the top case and hop on and go...... more time riding and less time messing around. I think the combo of the E55 with the Beetle Bags will look great.

Re: Corbin hardbags

Did a pack and test ride today. The attached images show contents for the bags: R side - two-person tent, tent poles for three-person tent, two Brunton stoves, my trusty Jet Boil, cook kit, three plates, coffee mugs, utensil sets, MSH water purifier, and a couple of dry pack dinners. L side - four days of clothing packed in a Space Bag.

The black compression bag lashed to the backrest holds the three-person tent, two sleeping bags, two pillows and three air mattresses. (There are three of us riding on this trip: myself and daughter two up on the 'Bird and my wife on her HD Sporty. She'll be porting clothes and the third sleeping bag.)

Other picks show how we'll be covering this trip. Since we won't have a support vehicle we're using a small Sony MiniDV Camcorder with a Manfrotto mount, and a GoPro Video camera with its own mount. I'll post video from the shoot using the camera set-up on the previously posted pics along with a test shot using the GoPro system.

Re: Corbin hardbags

The test ride with all the gear and pillion was fine. The 6mm shim on the rear suspension made all the difference in handling and turn in, especially loaded this way.

Holy crap, you've got as much money in Matthews clamps and c-stand arms as you do in the saddlebags! lol

Good looking setup. I'm doing a twin camera mount on mine as well, I'm building my version of the sw motech tankring mount for the forward camera, and a custom bracket that goes from one grab bar bolt to the upper saddlebag mount point. I'll be using a pair of JVC camcorders, they're on an in-store closeout for $99, top-mounted controls, and the viewfinder screens are solid on the read end. Luckily they also have the widest wide-angle of the sub-$250 mini-DV cameras that I fondled. I figure it's a cheap way to get some documentation without putting my DVX100's at risk lol

I shoot for a living - tools of the trade. I just have the luxury of using them.

Do the JVC's have OIS? That was the reason behind using the DVX100 for last year's shoot. You might want to look into a wide-angle adapter (and some grip tape).

It's good to run into another DV head here.

Okay - checked out your JVC, trick little camera and it does have some type of IS. Have you looked at GoPro Hero cams? Took the headache out of mounts for me, especially since I ride long distances with a tank bag. CMOS imaging, under $200 for camera and mounts.

Re: Corbin hardbags

I looked at the Hero, and it's a possibility for the future. The tank bag is one of the reasons I'm building my own forward mount, I'm building it so that it kind of wraps around the front of the bag, locking it in place, to a degree.

I primarily shoot stills, but many of my clients also want video of the shoots or custom video stuff, so, yeah, gotta have the tools to do the job properly.

Like to see your forward mount when you have it completed.
