Since originally voting that my helmet was an HJC, I have bought a Shoei X-eleven Byrne edition. It's very lite and so far so good . Haven't worn it much but I'll bet it will be better than what I have been using.

Arai Astro R. Very light, a really good tight fit and very little wind noise. Arai recently replaced the chin strap free of charge as it was badly frayed due to contact with the velcro fastener on the neck of my waterproofs. Cheek pads and liners remove easily for cleaning. Fitting the speakers for the autocom was very easy

I like the looks of that one. My fav has got to be the new Icon Decay helmet. Has the skull thing going on, plus, if it is half as good as the ICON Skull I bought last year...I think it will be my next lid.

I use a Roof Diversion, quiet, comfortable and now very cheap as this model is discontinued. Am I on my own on this one or am I missing something?, ie: are Arai and Shoei really that good? i've heard mixed reviews in the UK on these lids and i've never owed one..only tried a few on in the shop but didn't 'feel' anything to get that excited about. Seem very expensive in comparison to mine too. One other point to mention is the non-mist Roof visor really does work!

I don't know what it's like elsewhere, but in Australia the shops don't generally let you take helmets for a test ride so I chose mine base on a comfortable fit, weight, visibility, design and color, ventilation, other riders' experiences and finally price.

Shoei RF700, RF800 and now X-11.
Like many of you of the large melon persuasion, the Shoeis just fit like no other, I can wear their L while every other brand requires an XL, which in turn starts to rattle around after a few months.
I loved the RF800, but really wanted an X-11 from the moment they came out, even better fit and incredibly light.
Finally got a deal on one last year and... I actually don't like it near as much as the old RF800.
Don`t get me wrong, it's an excellent piece, extremely light, comfy, fantastic venting for hot weather and has the lowest wind resistance at speed of anything I've worn, but MAN is it noisy.
I doubt it`s the aerodynamics that cause it, even with all that venting, it's due to the very thin shell and liner, which were obviously engineered for ultra light weight. When riding my 900SS I can hear every little mechanical tick and tock, of which that bike obviously has many, and the traffic and wind noise on a long ride really wear me down. At a stop I hear stuff like I'm not wearing anything! Ear plugs would help, but I hate having to bother with them for anything but an all day ride.
Since noise is the ultimate concern for me, I'm really into trying a Schuberth S1. I know it weighs a ton, but it fits nearly as well if not the same as the Shoei and is touted to be the absolute quietest.
I see a percentage of Schuberths in the poll, anybody with an S1 wanna chime in?

The problem with the Shoei X11 and X1000 (next one down, probably a different model in the uS) is that they fog up badly. Unfortunately this was one of the aspects that were difficult to test for, but fortunately a few friends bought them, and they're a real pain for this reason alone.

Yes, I have to say considering how well ventilated it was, the X11 was pretty lousy in this regard too, but the weather here is so damp and cold half the time that just about ANY helmet fogs. Safe to say this one's really a hot climate lid.
Strangely, my RF800 started off about the same but got noticebly better with time. I often wondered if the crud / grease / wear or maybe even soap residue from years of cleaning it caused less tendency to fog with age?

I use a Simpson Speedway RX. It's actually a racecar helmet so it's a bit heavier than bike helmets. I grew-up in racecars so the wieght doesn't bother me. I've always had Simpson brand equipment, and believe they don't get any better! I noticed on their web site that Simpson has came out with a carbon fiber model, nice but a little pricey! SIMPSON FOREVER!!!

hmm thats scary,who said ouch? mines a shoei xr1000, nice fit ,only complaint is ventilation system works well but bugs can & do get inside your lid, nothing worse than charging through the hills & jimminy cricket decides to see whats between your ears by trying to get inside your ear.in my case he'd be lost in space

Was going to go from TZ-R to the Multitec, due to the 'flipability' and me being sick and tired of juggling the helmet and glasses at servos etc. But I went to try a BMW helmet and walked out of the dealership 850 bucks later - and I was smiling! (I know, I don't get it either )

Super quiet (as quiet as TZ-R with earplugs), so much lighter, it doesn't take effort to turn the head at 100+ on a windy day anymore, and the flipup thing is really nice in traffic, although really silly looking

Hehe the dealer's were askin' now that I got a real helmet, when will I be back for a real bike Bastards .

I just bought the new Scorpion exo-1000, Looks like a cool helmet! Couple a cool features like flip down sun visor, pump up cheek pads for adjustibility. It's being shipped now, can wait to have a closer look at the quality. And eventually, in the spring, try it......2 months that is....

I am now on my 3rd AGV. Every time i go to look at other brands of lid i always seem to revert to the AGV its the only one that fits for me. Mind you i do have a wiered shaped head. Must have been the forceps delivery method at birth!!!!!!!!

Anything with a lift up face (BMW Style).
It's great in traffic for vision and ventilation .... especially traffic jams where you are using the cagers as mobile chicanes

I've just given in and worn full wet weathers.
It is either that or take the train .... and I hate public transport.
Eg. Leave home at 6:30 am and get to work at 8:30 am !!!
4 hours a day wasted .... I prefer the tedium of dressing up like an eskimo
