This week I got to try my new Scorpion exo-1000, man oh man, that is the most comfortable helmet I've ever worn! Super quiet! And abolutely no fog! In 2 Degrees celcius temperature in rain!

After about 15K miles under my Arai Quantum II I'd have to say that I like my new Shoei X-11 better. It has better ventilation and better aerodyanamics. The sheild is certainly easier to change and if snaps into postion nicely. especially like the chin curtain that prevents turbulence around my face. I think the X-11 fits better too. I don't know why I ever went with the Quantum.

I have the Shoei RF1000 Strife very comfy and I like the quick change visor for the tinted during day and clear at night with fog city on the clear.

i scored a new fibreglass Rjays fugative lid for $199 NZD. still a cheap lid but it has more features than my disintegrating AGV Q2 ('98 model). This one looks pretty good 7/10, has well placed erganomic vents 8/10 but it isnt as quiet as the AGV. Agh well. The visors are just $43. All up id say top value and a better buy than half the lids placed at $500.

I use a Shark helmet as my everyday and an Arai at the track. I'm starting to think that I'll be using the Arai for both soon. The Shark felt right in-store but for long rides, it leaves a pressure-point mark on my forehead... and yes I can feel it. I've tried sanding inside a little to relieve the point where the pressure builds... but I think this style of helmet was built for a European, not a westerner.
Shark makes a good helmet... but it doesn't seem to agree with my head shape.

On to my second Shark RSF 2i. It has great ventilation for the South African summers. Not much fogging in the winter either. Wind noise is low, I can talk on my interkom at 250 k's/hour.
First one got some serious road rash, so had to be replaced. I'll stick with Shark for the forseeable future.

With the exception of mine being Gloss BLack to match the bike, this is my current lid and I'm happy with it. Made the switch from Shoei a couple of years ago (price mostly) as I needed a new helmet. Same general shape (interior) as the Shoei's but not as expensive. The spoiler is kinda KEWL too though, don't you think

Im with Charles on the EXO-1000 from Scorpion. This lid has a drop down tinted visor and cheek pads with air pumps in them. You can adjust what pressure you want on your head plus the visor does not fog. Very quiet and comfortable. Excellent choice of lid!!!

Is it just me or does everyones lid try to rip of your head when you get over 140 mph. Mine feels like its going to pull my head off the faster I go, at 160 my teeth feel like there going to break

Not mine I have an OGK Aeroblade II and it feels extremely stable
Not sure whether it is the aerodynamic "ducktail on the back of the helmet or the higher screen or a combination of both but it doesn't wobble around or get pulled back at all (unlike the arms on my textile jacket) even at 265kmh (164mph) |

outlaw... yeah... you're not alone on the "feels like my lid is going to rip off at 140 mph"
We got on a straight-away, I thrust my XX into 6th gear, took off - then hit the preverbial 7500rpms... and the beast comes alive at that point as you well know. My head/helmet felt like they merged as one - the next second, it was as though my head said - "wtf... get this thing off if I can!!"
I think it has to do with fitting really. My cheeks pads are worn in from years of wearing... and funny thing is, my helmet is a little tight on me for a medium... and I should have actually considered a large.
I guess I don't know why it happens for certain, just that it does...
"when it happens, when it comes on... and I start to change... I like it." (from the 1st Hulk movie - where the Hulk was a wee bit too bright green colored. Glad to see they corrected his skin color in the 2nd take... and better actors too.)

Arai's are the Rolls Royce of helmets. If you dont own one. Do yourself a favour. If you do own one. You will know that it's true. There is no substitute for qaulity.

I tried about a dozen Arai's and about the same amount of Shoei helmets and apart from 1 race rep Shoei that was ~$1000AUD none fitted me at all
In fact the Arai's were particularly uncomfortable when I tried them on
The only helmets that fitted me comfortably were the HJC's and the OGK's and the OGK Aeroblade II just felt right from the outset and is a better quality helmet than the HJC I believe
I am just waiting for the OGK FF% to be available in AUS as I tried one at a MC show last year and it felt much the same as the Aeroblade II but lighter and supposedly more ventilation - Always a plus here in West Aus in summer with temps around 45C |

I have posted mine already and this isn't mine. Thought I would fit it into this thread for a quick passing on of a smile or chuckle

I think I might go back to Shoei. I still have my RF800, but the lady friend wears that. I have an Arai Quantam. Seemed to fit my noggin. My greatest complaint is the MADDENING whistle when the visor is up. I really expected more for the price of the helmet. The ventilation does not seem that great.
I'm kinda tentative when it comes to trying new things (helmet brands). I'd also like to get a tinted shield because they look cool as hell. Just don't know how I feel about wearing it at night. What do others do to solve this problem? For the past ten years, I've just used cheap sunglasses shoved in my helmet. One thing I do like about that solution is the ability to ride with the shield up and not worry about rocks penetrating the soft parts of my face related to vision.
My first helmet came with the bike. I believe it was a Simpson that smelled suspicious, could hold a healthy watermelon in it, and spun 90 degrees on my head the first time I checked my mirrors at 45mph. Those were the days. (First bike was an 83 KZ550 Spectre. Loved it!)

Love the fit of the HJC, maybe because it was my first, but love the looks of the KBC Motodesign, just doesn't fit as good.

Me, too - just got it a couple weeks ago for $200 new from a guy on craigslist. Noisier than my AGV but it looks cool so that's all that matters. And he threw in a Silver mirrored shield along with the clear one...can't wait for the clock change in a couple weeks so I can start using it (I live the house when it is still kinda dark).
