Since originally voting that my helmet was an HJC, I have bought a Shoei X-eleven Byrne edition. It's very lite and so far so good . Haven't worn it much but I'll bet it will be better than what I have been using.Steve |

Arai Astro R. Very light, a really good tight fit and very little wind noise. Arai recently replaced the chin strap free of charge as it was badly frayed due to contact with the velcro fastener on the neck of my waterproofs. Cheek pads and liners remove easily for cleaning. Fitting the speakers for the autocom was very easy

Just bought one of these http://www.kbc-helmet.com/helmet/h_i..._speed_gun.jpg Really impressed so far. Plush removable lining, pretty quiet, and best of all, it doesn't crush my ears |

I like the looks of that one. My fav has got to be the new Icon Decay helmet. Has the skull thing going on, plus, if it is half as good as the ICON Skull I bought last year...I think it will be my next lid. Icon Decay Domain Motorcycle Helmet - RidersDiscount.com

I use a Roof Diversion, quiet, comfortable and now very cheap as this model is discontinued. Am I on my own on this one or am I missing something?, ie: are Arai and Shoei really that good? i've heard mixed reviews in the UK on these lids and i've never owed one..only tried a few on in the shop but didn't 'feel' anything to get that excited about. Seem very expensive in comparison to mine too. One other point to mention is the non-mist Roof visor really does work!

I don't know what it's like elsewhere, but in Australia the shops don't generally let you take helmets for a test ride so I chose mine base on a comfortable fit, weight, visibility, design and color, ventilation, other riders' experiences and finally price. This is what I bought, and I'm happy with it: http://www.mosskays.co.za/images/hel...eedom_blue.jpg |

Shoei RF700, RF800 and now X-11. Like many of you of the large melon persuasion, the Shoeis just fit like no other, I can wear their L while every other brand requires an XL, which in turn starts to rattle around after a few months. I loved the RF800, but really wanted an X-11 from the moment they came out, even better fit and incredibly light. Finally got a deal on one last year and... I actually don't like it near as much as the old RF800. Don`t get me wrong, it's an excellent piece, extremely light, comfy, fantastic venting for hot weather and has the lowest wind resistance at speed of anything I've worn, but MAN is it noisy. I doubt it`s the aerodynamics that cause it, even with all that venting, it's due to the very thin shell and liner, which were obviously engineered for ultra light weight. When riding my 900SS I can hear every little mechanical tick and tock, of which that bike obviously has many, and the traffic and wind noise on a long ride really wear me down. At a stop I hear stuff like I'm not wearing anything! Ear plugs would help, but I hate having to bother with them for anything but an all day ride. Since noise is the ultimate concern for me, I'm really into trying a Schuberth S1. I know it weighs a ton, but it fits nearly as well if not the same as the Shoei and is touted to be the absolute quietest. I see a percentage of Schuberths in the poll, anybody with an S1 wanna chime in?

The problem with the Shoei X11 and X1000 (next one down, probably a different model in the uS) is that they fog up badly. Unfortunately this was one of the aspects that were difficult to test for, but fortunately a few friends bought them, and they're a real pain for this reason alone.

Strangely, my RF800 started off about the same but got noticebly better with time. I often wondered if the crud / grease / wear or maybe even soap residue from years of cleaning it caused less tendency to fog with age?

I use a Simpson Speedway RX. It's actually a racecar helmet so it's a bit heavier than bike helmets. I grew-up in racecars so the wieght doesn't bother me. I've always had Simpson brand equipment, and believe they don't get any better! I noticed on their web site that Simpson has came out with a carbon fiber model, nice but a little pricey! SIMPSON FOREVER!!!

Was going to go from TZ-R to the Multitec, due to the 'flipability' and me being sick and tired of juggling the helmet and glasses at servos etc. But I went to try a BMW helmet and walked out of the dealership 850 bucks later - and I was smiling! (I know, I don't get it either )Super quiet (as quiet as TZ-R with earplugs), so much lighter, it doesn't take effort to turn the head at 100+ on a windy day anymore, and the flipup thing is really nice in traffic, although really silly looking ![]() Hehe the dealer's were askin' now that I got a real helmet, when will I be back for a real bike Bastards .

I just bought the new Scorpion exo-1000, Looks like a cool helmet! Couple a cool features like flip down sun visor, pump up cheek pads for adjustibility. It's being shipped now, can wait to have a closer look at the quality. And eventually, in the spring, try it......2 months that is....

Anything with a lift up face (BMW Style). It's great in traffic for vision and ventilation .... especially traffic jams where you are using the cagers as mobile chicanes

I've just given in and worn full wet weathers. It is either that or take the train .... and I hate public transport. Eg. Leave home at 6:30 am and get to work at 8:30 am !!! 4 hours a day wasted .... I prefer the tedium of dressing up like an eskimo ![]() .... But you're right, it's official ..... I HATE RAIN

Have a Premier, don't remember which model. The thing is that its about 5 years old now and I have used it a lot and I think its time to change it... All in all is a nice helmet, pretty comfy on my head but just a little noisy, no need of earplugs though. I was thinking of a Shoei RF700 or RF1000 (RX in Europe) Can anyone help me out with this delema? First thing I'm looking in a helmet is not to be noisy and second not very heavy. |

Vega, can't remember the model, but it fits my nogan. If your hat size is an 8 or bigger there is really not alot out there to fit you. I would like to try a Shoei but most of the dealers don't carry a 3X. You have to order them. Any other suggestions for the XXXtrememly large headed individuaks on the board? | |

| Re: What's your helmet brand?
Just purchased the SHARK RS1. The look and feel of the helmet fits my BB just right....I put 400miles on my bike this weekend with most of it at triple digits. Its light and the aerodynamics are amazing. I was going to buy a new windscreen but don't have to now. I was so used to the drag of my HJC after 10k miles with it I could tell how fast I was going just by the feel. With the Shark I could hardly feel the drag at all. I did some good steady cruising at 120mph heading up 680 then to 80 on my way to Sacramento with very little noise or drag on my head. When I looked left and right at speeds, any where from 75mph to 120mph it felt very controled with no difficulties. The noise level was very low at high speeds and even less at the posted 65mph, no ear plugs needed. The fit and finish are plush, the only problem I had was the cheek pads felt a little tight. I think thats from just putting on a little extra weight over the holidays. They seem to be loosening up a bit, so I'm going to give it some more time. So far I'm very happy with my 375 dollar purchase (including tax) and so is my neck. The good: light weight, plush, great aerodynamics, low noise and great look The bad: tight cheak pads |

I used to wear a Shoei when I was younger. With being older and having kids to payfor!!, I bought the GMax 68. $100 and fits pretty darn well. Of course I've only been able to wear it around in the house to get a little used to it, which really stinks because I'm still waiting to pick-up my bike. Hopefully I can let you know in a month what I think about the helmet after use.

I recently purchased the x-ll shoiei (love the dragon) and love it's weight and aerodyn. I definately did not like the priceline but it's cool. I have the scorpion 400 as well and in comparison, the scorpions improved peripheral vision is much greater. I noticed I am considerably torquing my head to see more. So, I would definately purchase another Scorpion just due to this added safety feature, forget the bells and whistles. Enjoy your toys! |

Just got a Shoei X-11 to replace my Arai Quantum. The X-11 seems to be a much better choice. The ventilation flow and control is definitly better and I really like the chin curtain that comes with the X-11. Under certain conditions the turbulence inside the Quantum was a nusance that dried my eyes badly. Despite the radical spoiler on the X-11, I cannot detect much difference in aeros or lift and noise seems about the same to me. I never had to put the Quantum to the ulimate test and I hope I'll be able to say the same for the X-11 a few years from now!
