I found out in Arkansas that my G3 gloves drain the battery if I'm not careful. I know the 97's had wimpy stators but I didn't think they were THAT bad... until now It was cold enough where I pretty much had them at least on low the whole day and I tend to ride at relatively low RPM's so I guess I wasn't creating enough juice to power the gloves and juice the battery. After a fuel stop towards the end of the day I had to pop-start it, but I finished the day in higher RPM's with the gloves turned off and haven't had a problem since. lesson learned... ride in a little higher RPM's and turn off the gloves 5-10 miles before a stop to juice up the battery a little before shutting off the motor. |

Check out motosport.com. they have a good heated combo deal going. You get Tourmaster gloves, jacket, and pants for around 400 bucks

Does anyone know how the tourmaster heated gear compares to the Gerbing? I've been considering getting some heated gear. One of the guys that works for me has the gerbing and he likes it. It looks real similar to this tourmaster stuff. The Gerbing stuff seems more expensive. |

I think Gerbing is the best choice however it's expensive. Check their web site. I think they are in and around the Seattle area. I don't ride like you lads do in the cold, cold, weather. I'm too much of a "pussy" so heated grips will be good enough. Damn, it's a never ending list for the bike and the rider. Actually I want a heated jacket for my wife for those cool mountain rides.

| Re: winter riding clothes Has anybody tried the Icon Insulated Jeans? They look pretty good and also provide protection in the hip and knee area with stitched in Kevlar. The insulation is removable and washable as well.... Insulated Denim Pant - More Power Racing

I haven't tried those pants. They look functional from the description but they also look like something that my son would wear with that whole logo writing thing down the side of the pants. | |

I should be getting my tourmaster gear in this week Strek and will be using it on my trip to Arkansas during Thanksgiving. I will post up a thread about it for you when I get back on my thoughts and views.

i wear joe rocket jacket and pants, the jacket is mainly waterproof (except in the elbow area where the zipper is) but the pants are great, come with a waterproof liner, and even the summer outter pants are pretty comfey.... then i have tactical swat boots w/ sparkproof steel toe and shank w/ easy zip off sides... all in all i spent 400 bucks on the whole set.. (plus joe rocket gear has a zipper in the back to zip up the jacket and pants together) i swear there is more zippers on my gear then fabric LOL (plus i wear a thick turtleneck longsleeve sweater during the cold... i still have yet to get gauntlet gloves (a must) so the wind doesn't blow up the sleeves

Winter riding gear in Oz consists of wearing a jumper underneath your jacket.
