so i use my mp3 player for some good 'ol riding tunes...
but its a pain having ear plugs half in or out of my ears (getting my helmet on and off etc)
so am wondering....
what sort of systems, if any, are out there that would be just as effective, but less hassle
(ie. in helmet speakers)
anyone got something worth mentioning??

Try the search button for sound systems and also earplugs. Plenty of suggestions there.

I've got speakers mounted where the mushrooms used to be, they have a 100 watt booster, and I drive them with my ipod...
It is a decent system, and works pretty well up to about 70 mph indicated (much above that, and the wind takes all the music away).
cost me less than 100 for the whole kit on ebay...

it's not the prettiest system ever, but it doesn't look totally hokey either... Music! - Ohio Riders
i was also thinking about converting this into a tank bag system...
then i could use the battery lead to power the stereo, charge my ipod, and my phone, all at the same time, and use my phone gps full time without killing the battery

sorry armystrong, didn't realize you couldn't see the pix in that link...
here is where i ended up mounting the speaks, the remote on off/volume controller, and the amplifier...
my ipod sits nicely between the tank and the seat...

Not bad, I thought you found a way to mount under the fairings. Are they easy off and on?

Go to Best Buy and buy the Gorilla ear plugs. These plugs fit in your ear canal and do not fall out. Three different sizes to use too! Best 20 bucks I have spent on my MP3 player

Nope... none at all. every now and then they pop out when I take my lid off. Fit em in snug and they will stay in your ear. I have been using them over 4 months now without one popping out yet.

10 minutes to get the system off and "shrooms" back on..
I just got a tank bag today, considering tossing the system in the bag/on the bag...
definite up sides to putting power in the tank bag (cell phone charging, ipod charging, etc...
