Hi all,
I'm new here & this might have been discussed before but.......
Below is a link to what I think is a pretty trick piece of equipment. It's available in Australia, USA, UK, Canada, Denmark, Spain, Holland, Norway & Hungary.
I'll admit it's not cheap - but the throttle locks I've seen just don't thrill me at all.
Has anyone got one of these (or know anyone that has) that can give some decent feedback? Honda CBR1100XX EFI Cruise Control (will not fit caburettor models) (incl.custom loom) :: MotorCycle Cruise Control :: Motorcycle Cruise Controls - ATV, 4 Wheelers and Quad Bike Accessory & Parts |

Thanks Growler67
I have seen them, but they fall into the category of throttle locks that don't thrill me. (Along with Vista & NEP) Thanks anyway

For the price these little babies are worth the dough. They also look like regular bar ends too.

That is, they basically lock the throttle in the position you put it. You can move it, but it has no speed control ability of it's own.
I had one of the MC Cruise, cruise controls on my '98 BB and while expensive compared to the throttle locks, they do a fantastic job. You set 110kph & it will hold that speed, uphill and down. They drop out for all the right reasons, ie. Brakes applied, clutch used (engine races), speed drops too much or goes too high due to really steep hill, or you switch the run/stop switch.
It is a real license saver if you go to Vic! |

Welcome from the windy city. I haven't used that type of cruise control on my bikes. I have used Throttle locking types and they have always worked fine for me. I guess this system would allow more consistent modulation of speed on big up hills and downhills like a cars cruise control. Not sure if its worth but costs myself but I live in flatland country.

I am installing one of the MC Cruise kits on my '08 FJR right now. So far the quality of the parts and the instruction manuals have been excellent. A lot of people have succesfully adapted an Audiovox CC100 cruise control to their bikes (particularly the FJR1300s). I still wanted one that was designed for motorcycles, ergo, I went the expensive route. I still have throttlemeisters on all my bikes, however (always buy the heavy version).
If the fjr works out the way I think it will, I will probably install one on the XX as well.

The only issue I had in installing the kit on my FJR was installing the short auxilliary throttle cable that they supply. My hands were too big to connect it to the throttle body cable cam, even with the extra tools that they supply. No real problem though, I simply removed the airbox assembly to expose the throttle shafts and this made it easy for me to connect the required cable. The magnetic pickup on the rear axle was less than 2 minutes work, too.
I would have had the installation done, but I am using the 600 mile service interval to install about 8-10 farkles at the same time.
Ahhh, the joy of it all!

Ahhh, the joy of it all! | With the Blackbird, you have to remove the airbox, so there shouldn't be any dramas with installation. On the injected birds, the magnetic pickup on the rear wheel isn't required & therefore isn't supplied. (not the same for carb models)
