When it is 90º-110ºf here, I am wearing shorts when I ride my CBX. I do not go outside when it is hotter than 110º

Re: What protective gear do you ride in?

Summer
Arai Helmet / all the time
Joe Rocket UFO jacket
Firstgear HT Air over pants
Sidi Vertigo Air boots
JR air gloves
tank top and gym shorts under neath

In the summer when it gets to be 90 in the pm I go out early, at around 7am and I'm back by 12 - 2 pm at the latest. The over pants are really convenient because you can unzip the legs and get out of them if you can stay where you are for a while.

Winter
One of a couple leather jackets with CE or CA armor, Joe Rocket Corona, Triumph Retro, Firstgear leather, Cortech Textile that is very comfortable and provides great warmth and protection.
Pants, Firstgear HT over pants
Sidi Vertigo Corsa boots
AStars full gauntlet gloves with silk liners.
Underarmour type gear for pants and top

sometimes I wear my ICON magic marker yellow mesh vest over the top if I'm going through some serious traffic. Visibility on this is very good.

Re: What protective gear do you ride in?

I pulled a FirstGear Mesh Tex off the hanger after not wearing it fro a long while and found that it is not only a good breather but is very comfortable. It just moved in front of my JR stuff. No patches, silver. Just a note.

Re: What protective gear do you ride in?

It is 96º outside now and I just got back from a short 20 mile round trip on my Red Bird.
Before I left, I took off the shorts and put on a pair of Levi's because I can't ride the Bird wearing shorts or my calves get burned from the engine heat.
It is too hot to get all dressed up in leathers just to run short errands.
I got called a squid by one of my friends the other day and copped to it because I was wearing shorts and a T-shirt while out riding my air cooled CBX.
I do squidly things like wear shorts and a T-shirt on my CBX but, I ride like a civilized human being because I have those road rash scars and crash memories still fresh in my mind from when I rode like an asshole.

I don't own a cage and live on my motorcycles. I will not be bothered with full riding gear unless I am riding for sport, it is not practical.
But, you can count on the fact that I do have full leathers, a DOT helmet, riding boots and leather gloves for when I do decide to twist that throttle for fun.

I have an Arai Astral Helmet that is intermediate oval in shape. The fit is perfect. I had a little difficulty finding another semi oval until Arai cam out with the Corsair V. Just a note.

Claude,
For summer riding I use the Dri Rider Air Mesh pants mate. Plenty of air gets through the meshed vents to keep you cool on those 40 plus degree days. There's also great protection for the knees thighs etc. Check this link out.

Re: What protective gear do you ride in?

Normally, it consists of......
Shoei Raid II lid
Iridium Shades (I like to ride with the visor open, only close it for rain nor bug swarms!)
Neck warmer (most of the year!)
Tuzo Armoured Textile Jacket
Hi-Viz vest (though the current ORANGE one must be faulty!!)
Hein Geriche Leather/Textile gloves (Winter) HG Textile/Rubber (Summer)
Jeans (just plain standard black jeans....yes, BLACK jeans slow, BLUE bike fast!!)
Water proof leggings for the more-than-occasional shower!
Leather High Boots (Winter) Leather/Textile Lace-Up Boots (Summer....2-3 weeks a year!)

Ocassionally, I break out a Buffalo Armoured Leather jacket, when the weather permits and I want to look like I know what I'm doing on a bike
Have Akita Armoured pants as well, but don't use them too often, too cumbersome for short trips.

Getting some Draggin' Jeans soon for touring............
