Hi, You have a couple of brands that make kevlar jeans (some of them have pockets for hard protection). Right now I can only remember of Draggin Jeans is the world leader in casual motorcycle clothing with Kevlar and Dyneema, the World's Strongest Fibre, forming its revolutionary lining But I usually buy BIKE magazine (you are from UK should be easy to get a copy) and they always have a couple of brands with this type of jeans. It's a matter of choosing the one you like more. |

Hi, I have two pairs of Draggin Jeans, one pair of traditional cut blue jeans and a pair of camo cargo pants. There great for every day use but I find on fairly hot days they can get a bit sweety and the Kevlar inserts can be a bit uncomfortable and stick to the skin around the butt and thighs. So if i'm going on a fairly descent ride on hot days I throw on the leather pants, the silk lining is a hell of a lot more comfortable. Also I find that the traditional blue Draggin's are a better cut than the cargo's, just fit better. Good Luck with it.

I wear a pair of black Carhart bib coveralls for short rides without my normal riding gear. They are comfortable and quite durable. The knees and other stress points are double walled (they are work wear). Not quite as tough as riding gear but much better than ordinary jeans. Mr. Mike.

I wear Shift b/c they have a gusset and a stretch strip in the waist band. This makes bending easier and sitting more comfy, imo. I haven't worn Draggin for years b/c they are expensive landed in Canada. I may check out their current price as the Can Beaver buck is getting near par.

Also, leather slides along the ground ... anything else grabs and pulls! Hence why only leathers are allowed on UK tracks

I was in my FULL leathers today, a zip together system with massive padding in the knees. Only because the wearther was cool enough,. It us usually 95 degrees here whcih makes any protective gear dangerous from the stand point of heat stroke. If it is too hot for me to even wear a testile jacket at a minimum i wont ride. There are many days when the heart index is so high that no one rides. Thats why i am moving to San Diego where they have the most riding days anywhere.

I checked out the draggin jeans.....all 34 inch leg not much use to me ! (does everyone cut them down ? ) i resent paying 125 pounds for a pair of jeans i have to attack with scissors So i got some Oxford Chillout under trousers (45 quid ouch Fowlers..u saw me coming) waste band was a bit tight...so i cut the elastic at the front....makes life easier when when u nip too the loo The chillouts are really lightweight and you can wear them all day and slip your jeans on over the top really easy....they are thicker at the front of the leg than at the back...so i wont cook when im off the bike Not a huge improvement in protection....but i figured i can still wear them under some dragin jeans...when i find a pair made for shortlegs ! ...gona checkot there webby again The only other biking trousers i got is some rubberised leggings...too hot for any day the sun comes out (and a wrestling match getting them on and off) ------------------------------ well i got cold my cold n wet town riding sorted Rubberised waterproofs over normal jeans with Chill out under trousers still want to get some dragin jeans...and maybe a proper pair of armored trousers for the odd long trip i got a 1 piece race suit but its just a nightmare to wear...the boots that go with it are a killer too....well protected yes...can i walk no ! lol ------------------------------------------------------------------ short hops are a different story from long runs and touring ...its hard to justify spending more time getting dressed and unlocking bike than u spend riding to your destination 90% of my trips are less than 5 miles in heavy slow moving traffic Last edited by TESLACOIL; 01-15-2010 at 5:05 PM. |

I totally agree Scrappy....i should be wearing full kit and back protector all the way 90% of bike accidents involve some rider error....if you drive like a grandad & use advanced riding techniques u can avoid of 9 out of 10 accidents its just a bit boring riding this way that's all if i was going for it ...even a bit on a daily basis i would be suited and booted ------------------------------------------------------------ This is all a bit weird for me as im a natural risk taker....which means im actually quite conservative when there's real bodily danger I think i will force myself to wear armourjeans on longer rides..and perhaps a back protector too....im still trying to up my casual protection...might go for crash bars on the bike (its a knee thing lol) ---------------------------------------------------------- found a webby with ALL sizes for ALL draggin jeans Men's Classic Draggin' Jeans Last edited by TESLACOIL; 01-15-2010 at 6:19 PM. |

Cool, so long as you don't become a statistic for the sake of a little effort and a few quid

They are way too expensive. Shift is a much more comfortable riding jean. Search them out. The gusset inbetween the thighs and the elasticity behind at the waist make sitting and bending much more comfy. imo. I'll see whats available at next weeks Bike Show. For you all skinny arsed guys, Draggin may work well but if you are a touch "full bodied" then try Shift.

I love my Esquad e strong jeans. They are cool enough as they let the breeze through. They have no lining but they are a bit expensive but worth it. They were about £180 from the website below. Esquad E-Strong Jeans - FREE UK DELIVERY Last edited by DavidField; 01-16-2010 at 12:40 PM. |
