Re: ex or current military?
Veteran's Day. It doesn't mean as much to me as it maybe should, I and others just did what they had to do, no big thing. BUT when a young man comes to me and with emotion thanked me for serving I remembered what I had told many young soldiers over the years. "Always remember you are a part of something bigger than any one person could ever be, that's the challenge". I really appreciate the younger Veteran's, especially our sons and their circle of friends, your Grandfathers would be as proud of you as you are of them.

This Forum is interesting, regenerating 3 year old threads! Seems like we have a pretty sparse audience but loyal, they hang in there, peep, and occasionally make a comment. I Like!

Re: ex or current military?
About 11 active years and 21+ total (and still counting) with Reserve time, USN. Besides 8 years of initial overseas duty, the most memorable (dare I say best?) and personally rewarding (with my family's great support and sacrifice) were the two more recent deployments to Iraq (2008) and Afgh (2010). Seeing servicemen and women from across the branches and around the world serve together is a very humbling experience. Thanks to all my brothers and sisters who have served and continue to serve.
