Well,as of yesterday, thanks to the air shifter,I now own the only 9 second, all motor (150hp) stock wheelbase,Blackbird in S.W. Ontario that I know of.My first pass with the shifter was a 9.93 at 138.42 mph with a 1.62 60ft.Also my best 60ft time ever.Next pass was 9.94 at 140.16,first time to hit 140mph and 114mph at the 1/8th.HIt another 9.93 at 139.93 later. It was an awesome day,if I hadn't hit a .496 light in the final I would have won Streetbike, but I guess you can't have it all at once.
My 9 second goal has been reached.
Next goal is yet to be decided.

Don't say 8 seconds,don't have the $ for that.

Thanks guys.I really consider myself just an average rider even though I've been racing since 2000,but I usually only get to the track 4-5 times a year so yesterday was a big deal for me.

It's also a GOOD feeling to know I qualify for quick 8 or quick 16 classes now.

Hey, congrats., thats some skilled riding to be turning those consistant times, and on a std. wheelbase bike. Its not exactly easy to get out of the hole the same way every time.
Skilled and humble, admirable.

What kinda mods did you do to get the 15 or so HP, my bike is a 99 as well. What kind of tires do run? Did you shed any weight. And, not to be personal but, what do you weigh.

It's been posted before but to save the search trouble:
4-1 pipe,header unknown,Hindle can
16/46,rr is aluminum
1 layer removed from hd gasket to boost comp
counter balancers removed
50/50 pump gas and 113 race gas
it's very low, front is strapped and rr has adj link
no mirrors,no signals
removed the whole LBS system (had to weigh over 5 lbs)
shift light and air shifter
and a slight cleaning up of the head,to remove stock roughness.
And the clutch mod.And I just had the seat lowered, don't know if that helped or not since I'm 5'7" and tucking behind the double bubble is easy for me anyway.
I weigh 150,in full gear I think it's 165 lbs.
xx2wheelin,8's for 1k?I'm listenin',pm me.
I think the swingarm might be next, much as I like stock wheelbase.

Thank's for the spec's. It sounds like you still have alot of room to play with the thing. I was on aperaceparts.com earlier and they have lots of xx stuff. I just took my APE manual tentioner off my bike, dont need it anymore without the turbo. Need it? $25 and it's yours. I just need to raise $ to buy parts to put my bike back togather. Oh yea, APE has some electronic ignition stuff too.

check to see if ellixer still has his swing arm up for sale i know he was sellin a nice mcintosh piece for like 400 or so and i would pay someone to lower the forks the right way for noninverted forks that should be round 200 or so i would imagine. and for around 300 you can find a good quality dry nitrous set up that if you have a seperate map in the pcIII just for spray you can safely run about a 40hp shot. but if you choose not to have your forks cut down i would say spend that money on a ultra soft shinko. the tire and the arm alone would easily get you down into the 9.4 range. and the spray would get you really really close to getting you into the 8's. i ran a friends busa set up with a full hindle system power commander 8"+ arm 3" ground clearance air shifted and a 40 shot into a 8.81 at 159

That's pretty much the same Busa set-up a guy has here, seen him do 8.88.I run a Metzeler dragtec, everything the Shinko is,gonna try the M.T. next for the weight savings, heard it's good for a 1/10.Don't want to go nitrous, have all the lines and regulator for a kit and have a friend who is now an NX dealer who keeps pushing it on me.
I don't think the arm would get me that low, bike still needs more hp and torque but thanks.Definately 2-3 tenths i think.
I wanted that arm bad Elixxir had.I have an extra one that would cost me more than that to get extended.
There's a few extended GSXR's and Busa's running spray up here that aren't much quicker than me, 9.5' 9.2's.I'll probably never be able to get the turbo set-up I want but I really don't want NOS,senn to many blow-up.

Damm good times!
Take that as a STRONG compliment from an XX'er who's been on the strip a "few" times.
You have one great advantage over me for sure. You weigh 50+ lbs less than I do. I'm willing to bet that your bike is probably close to 20lbs less too.
Just the fact that you are getting +5mph more in the 1/8 alone is a shocker.

With your weight, your short times are impressive as well. Let me ask you something though.......

I was running with a 16/45 combo and I was going through the lights at about 11,300 rpm with that gearing at the top of 4th. You must be getting into 5th gear with a 16/46 @ 139-140 mph. Have you tried going back to the 17t primary yet ? It may save you a shift and even with the air shifter, you might gain a little.

Thanks, coming from you I know what it means.
Too excited to watch my rpm at the line but I normally hit 5th.I did hold on to 4th and that was my best mph run. I shift at 10 000 and I want to experiment with that but time never allows.Gearing isn't new to me,I constantly think of changing but it's a matter of keeping the front wheel down too.My 600 was 1 down 3 up and would hit 12000 in 6th at 125mph,I tried about 4 combinations before I got it right.

Funny how you relate my weight to short times,I struggle to keep my weight forward when I launch, always have.

The extra 5 mph came with the 15 extra hp.I was getting 134 +/-1 .

I can't help but think that being you are a light weight guy that the stock 17t sprocket prob' would take too much if anything from your holeshot performance, and it would save you a shift on the far end as well.

Ideas.....

But then I'd have to raise my launch rpm, which is 7500 now.Which could be a good thing...don't know.Got the biggest race of the year on Sunday, weather permitting, don't want to change anything now.

Hey,finally got a picture for my avatar. The bike is lower now and the side fairings no longer go on and the exhaust has changed.

Just for the ordinary people out there,,,, do you have a best time with the stock exhaust?

My best time with the stock cans , no PCIII, and lowered with a 16t primary was a 10.55 @ 131 mph.

Funny,,,,, when I took the lowering dogbone out, and just strapped the front end at stock height, I got my best time.

Stranger than that, it was with no burnout and 38 psi of air in the rear tire too.

I can wait for my local track to open back up again in November all fresh and new.

OK,I might not be ordinary, but my 1st couple years on the bike it had the same set-up as that,16t,strap on the front all stock otherwise-10.43 @135.That was before the clutch plate mod and I was inconsistent as hell.

New tracks are NIIIICE!

I don't want tp save a shift really.Ideally you want as much power as possible to accelerate through as many gears as possible for higher top speeds. But it has to balance with the power you have.I'm sure Stotz is using all 6 gears to hit 200mph,'course he has 400 more hp...
Anyway I did try the 17t years ago, happier with the 16t,it's the rr that may get changed, especially if I get a longer s/a.
