Ok......ok......since this thread has gone down to who is faster at the track, I need to end the drama....
There was a car that ran just before I staged. The track guy mopped up a little bit before I rolled up and I must have got my rear tire in something slippery. The tree lit up, I 5k launched and...........nothing..............my rear tire was spinning like it was on ice. Then the tire grabbed and I started veering off to the left chopping the throttle. I wound up about a foot from the wall with a 10ft wavy burn mark into the red paint. I managed to straighten her out and and came to a stop. There wasn't a way to turn around and I didn't wreck so I took the leasure route down the track.
End result........................... 15.83@73mph.
All my buddies were laughing pretty hard about that one.
My best time for the night was a 10.58@133. The rest were 10.6 to 10.8
My 60ft times were 1.7 to 1.9's depending if I was pulling the front wheel up or not.
That R1 is a buddy of mine and he has it modded pretty good. He had his front wheel off the ground almost all the way through the run every time and he was in the 10.5 range consistantly. Needless to say he beat me on that run pictured.
The conditions of the track were pretty good although it was still in the 90's at about 8:00pm. The empty bleachers are because they closed that side off and everyone is sitting behind the camera. My front tire also seems flat but isnt. The concrete barrier blocked part of the tire.
There have only been two instances where I have seen a 600cc bike break into the 10's. One had nitrous and the other was a kwak 636. This kid swore up and down it was stock but we all know when we smell bull cookies don't we? No offense XX
Outlaw and XX....would love to race you guys! You guys post up your times when you go because if I was in cooler weather I just might be a tad bit lower in times.
So what is the crapiest times you guys have run the 1/4 mile in?????

I haven't run at the strip in some years. I do remember one time going up there when my bike was out of service. I drove the support vehicle for the rest of the guys going up there to race. I ended up taking a early 80's era 4 cylinder Honda Civic hatchback through the quarter. Don't remember the exact time but I seem to recall that I kept it under 20. I think it ran an 17 or 18. It was still fun.

Too damn hot with 101 degree days here to wear leather. Don't know what would be worse...racing with leathers and pass out with heat exhaustion or chance taking a spill. Odds of me taking a spill are a lot less than passing out. My jacket is even textile too to startle you more

most riders have no problem running a bike up through a few gears on the street with out a jacket and most times without even a helmet. the track is atleast a controlled enviroment were the risk is minimized. Technically you need leather pants if your traps speeds exceed 120. but that rule was made when 120 mph speeds at the top end were only accomplished by modified bikes that may have not been safe at those speeds. now any current model 600 right off the showroom floor will break 120 in the quarter.....i really think its time for a rule amendment.....any current model bike (98+) shouldnt need pants till your faster then 9.99 or exceeding 135

Most of these rules are varies due to what track you ride on. NHRA may require leathers while IHRA does not. If they enforced leather down here no one would race so I think they ease on the leather rule to draw the bikes in to race. Most wrecks I have seen over the last two years of riding at the track were at the staging lites and the guys walked away with a hurt pride and wearing jeans.
