Well, they needed to do something to liven it up a bit, but I wonder if this is the right thing:

Cycle News Online

I hope it doesn't become NASCARized.

I hope they make the Daytona 200 a true superbike event again and not Formula Xtreme like it is now.

As a fan of motorcycle racing I am hopeful that the new deal will be good for the sport. We need fans in the stands. If they can tap into the NASCAR crowd that will watch a car, because you can’t see the drive, go around in circles for hours think what those fans will do when he/she see a superbike race and can actually watch the rider.

As an active corner worker safety crew member there are some concerns about the sport getting dumb down or NASCARized. I pray this won’t happen and I don’t think it will. My guess is that we will see AMA Superbike Series look more like MotoSt with safety cars, blue passing flags and other stuff we don’t know about yet. MotoSt has been some good racing and there have been no imaginary cautions like in NASCAR. While most of us corner workers did not like that stuff at first it is o.k and gets better each time.

I don’t know how all this will affect the racers and not being one now won’t comment. Sure one of you will.

See you all at the next race.

H.D
