They have announced a new class called "Real Street" Here is a link to the rules: http://www.amaprostar.com/rulebook/RealStreet.pdf It looks like you have to have a 8.5 second bike to do well in that class. With the above rules, what do you think it would take for the 98XX to be an 8.5 second bike?

Well, I am seeing all deep into the 8 second area. But, if your bike is carbeurated, then you cant run a turbo, supercharger or nitrous. If you are FI, you have to run your stock injectors, so I don't know what that means for them as far as turbos and such.

I think there are a couple drag racers on here so get with them. I'd say you're going to have an uphill battle. Looks like you'll need an FI bike I think. You're 98 is carbed I bet. Then since you can do anything you want to the motor. Get to it!

Punch it up to 1300cc, port and polish, balance and blueprint, put a lighter flywheel in it, ignition advancer, lose weight on bike and yourself (if need be) and do about 100 dyno pulls trying every kind of map you can to get your HP up and about 1000 little tiny things, the of which will make you faster. You're 23 so you should be in good shape. Work on your RT and maybe try a moto drag racing school.

Considering you'll likely be one of the only XX's out there you have to pull out all the stops. It's all zx14's and Busa's.

Speed costs! How fast do you want to go? Good luck and go get ya some!!!

Well, as far as how good of shape I am in, I am 5'11", 150lbs...so I think that is a good start. I am going to be competing in the Pro Street E/T class first, to kinda get my feet wet. But I am doing all of my research now to get some $figures$ together of what it would take to switch to heads-up racing. I have some time to practice because the rest of my team isn't moving here until next year. Hopefully you guys will see "H*Baker Racing" in real competition by 2011.

I don't know??? I think you will have your hands full trying to be competitive in this class with the Bird. You could make good power with a turbo but that stock injector rule sucks! The new 1000s' are much lighter and have more aftermarket support, a lighter bike with less power will outrun you. I will keep my n20 bike in the bracket and grudge classes and try my new cbr1000rr in the super sport class. that is if I ever get one!! ooh, just read the rules you posted. looks like you will hand clutching the stock clutch set up in that class too, no lock ups. sounds like fun!!??!! I just had an idea!! I could disable the secondary injectors and spray dry n2o on my ol lady's 600rr in that class too!! now that would be fun!

Well, actually according to those class rules, I can't use a turbo. My bike is carbed....I know...everyone says build a bird that is EFI if I'm gonna build a bird. But, this bird is very special to me. Plus, I like the challenge, especially when everyone else thinks I can't. So, I am still researching different classes. I figure that by the time I take my first couple of years of honing my skills before going to a heads-up class, they will probably have a new class and possibly new rules.

Kyle ,I would love to see you do it but frankly that's a mother of a task,I don't think's it's possible.I know guys with 250hp that are in the high 8's,and that's with nitrous. There's other classes you can run without sinking a fortune into a bike that can't make it.Take a drag course,go compete, then you'll have a better understanding of what you're up against.
p.s. the Prostar name is now gone, it's AMA Dragbike now.

I have had deep thoughts on this. I know I deffinately want to compete with the bird.....but like I said before...CBR1000RR might be in my future as well. I wont be doing any heads-up style racing until I get a couple of years of E.T. racing under my belt. I figure that once I do well in Pro E.T., then that will be the time to do what it takes make the switch to whatever heads-up class is available at that time. Also, when did they switch from Prostar to Dragbike? The websites are still advertising it as Prostar. Unless it is a brand new thing that they haven't updated yet. By the way, thanks for all the advice and support on this guys.

Actually, it is a benefit for the XX since the stock XX injector will flow over 330HP and more with a higher fuel pressure. It is also a drop-in replacement for the busa and could be a hidden upgrade. (The injectors were made by Keihn, IIRC, and the only way to tell the difference is the numbers on the side.)

I believe they do a flow test during the tech inspection.

I'll believe that when I see it. That kind of additional burden on normal tech would be unacceptable to Scott (head of Prostar now called AMA Dragbike, btw).

I would bet that they check the #'s and learn how to spot people who 'might' be cheating by MPH.

Of course, there is always the good old $500 protest & tear down...

At any rate, this would be a tough bike to run in that class unless you were very innovative! Don't let that discourage you, but instead set your expectations accordingly. Someone like Elton Fish probably has some good tricks up those old sleeves to help you prepare for it as well.
