Still think a stock Blackbird is fast !!!!! try a turbo !!!!! It'll BLOW your mind.http://www.cbrxx.com/engine-airbox-e...blackbird.html Project 1200 the NA monster http://www.cbrxx.com/general-cbr-xx-...ct-1200-a.html
Well fitted shift light was easier than I thought picked up power from red wire to ignition, earthed under gauge mount and rpm spliced into coil, all wires hidden, tested works perfect, stuck it on left side of plastic wire runs in behind screen, so now just have to wait until 28th Jan is next time I can get out.
A friend of mine is running a ZX14R..average is about 9.4 at 145. Ran last Sat. I think I can get the Bird down to real low 10's maybe even better. Only one run on Sat it was 10.5 at 135. Pegs need to be lowered so I can get my feet up in time to shift, old and long legs low seat and high pegs not for a good 1 to 2 shift. The Bandit has been sorted out and I think it is headed to the mid 10's. Was jetted way too rich for our rarefied air here but that has been fixed now, from 152.2 down to 142.5 thats a lot. I might need to go to a solenoid shifter on the Blackbird if I can't find a way to get my feet up. My legs are 34 and stiff due to a lot of running and some age, just can't swing up like a 5 ft 4 Japanese kid. Back on the 28th and the 4th will see what we can do.

Graham, Looking forward to reading about your progress, keen to see what sort of times you can push out, I am hanging out for next week 28th for a run or 6 or 7 I hope
@Lank - what sort of work is done to your bird, I am assuming not exactly stock if you are aiming for low 10s

just PC 3, 4-2-1 Micron, 16 and 45, grippie tire, extended swing arm, lower front..gotta lower the pegs, Will let you know what it does.. I think next run for it is 11 Feb.. Working the Bandit down next weekend, its really running well now and I am really interested in seeing what it does now.think it will be good. I would guess its a 130 rwhp bike more or less. I am at 2500 feet here and some days pressure is more akin to 4500 feet
I have a nice 2 mile piece of road that I have marked off and am going to do some pulls, the Bandit runs way past redline building power, at 4500 feet seems to like lean air now. I wish I could get the rev limiter off the Blackbird...hadn't thought of it until now..bet its been done before
yes Graham has done it on Project 1200 but without a change of ECM it is not so simple.Originally Posted by Lank

Unfortunately the Bird doesn't have a speed sensor trigered limiter so you can't 'play' with a speedo healer to remove an imposed speed limit.
Full of Hot air? Intercool yourself............ you know it makes sense
Well no runs at all rain - this is what we have had last 7 days here in Sunny Queensland is simply crap
So yesterday new stoppers, and my Zero Gravity DB Screen finally arrived s fitted that. Hopeful for next week.
Got the lowered pegs on the BB and a jel seat cushion so now will have enuf leg room. Ran the Bandit and it launched really well but had some clutch slipping problems that affected speed and created a lot of heat. Will change oil and see if that helps, then??. Altitude was corrected to about 4500 which really sucks and of course affects jetting and carb tune. Bandit did a bunch of 10.8's but I had fantastic launches..60 foot times averaged 1.65 with some in the 1.40's and some up in the 1.80's. I threw out the highs and the lows of about a dozen runs. I think its gonna take some GSXR 1000 cams to get to 10.0 . Back it down to a 1000 ft elevation or lower track and easily get 10.5 now. Tracks in Minnesota are about 1300 feet, a huge plus.
Will play with the BB on the 11th, clutch is pretty grabby but I think I can strap it and launch at high RPM. Very Very sticky track here, even the Bandit bogs at less than 6000 and I suspect the BB will need 7000 or better. We will see..
Should post I suppose - last night not great just could not get it sorted, had 5 runs in total - 4 qualifying, 1 race, just happened to line up for the first race against a guy who is real good and runs regularly in a couple of brackets with about 3 or 4 bikes, but no excuses trick is to beat the guy beside you. Took me to long to realise hot day, hot track should have launched at higher revs, first 3 runs she just bogged down and died on the line all runs were 11.4 ish, last qual run was ok got the 60' at 1.947 but only ran 11.256 hit rev limiter again, shift light not right kept flashing randomly. Dialled 11.15 ran 11.29, slow reaction time, slow 60' 2.081, naturally lost but not by much .0442.
Need more practise, need to launch harder, need to keep trying. til next time.
Thought I would throw this link in, bit of Aussie drags, Speedweek*|*Archive*|*Drags
