so what i would do if i was on a shoestring budget, find someone that can weld stainless steel & cut your original cans at the weld joint between the pipe & can, then take all the packing out & centre perforated tubing & replace with a straight through tube from the end of the can to the joint where you cut from,so basically what you end up with is a straight through system from the headers to the end of the can,but you still have the catalitic converter & all the bends in the exhaust the will still restrict the flow to an extent,so you might want to do something with them too.

i think it would sound very nice, roar & fiesty.
i have opted to get the full Akrapovic exhaust system & totally love it,its got so much more grunt from 3000rpm all the way up to the limiter & just wants to lift the front end all the time & sounds F@#KIN awesome,i'll be dynoing it soon, just need to find some time off.

so,if you can afford it,get the Akrapovics,i've heard many birds with many brand exhausts on them, but these sound the best, if you can't,then give the other option a go,i'll be interested to hear the results from you & should cost F@#K all,
    good luck

hi mate, well what you ask is alittle different,i've never thought of putting the pipes from a Vtwin onto a four, there's not much of a wieght saving & therefore leeds me to think that they are packed internally in a similar way & type of packing would be the same, so by saying this i would not think that they would make a difference in sound or power gain,& thats after you go through the arguious task of cutting the leed in pipe section & welding a leed in pipe back onto the pipes to make them fit, headaches.
