Hello from Arizona

I just bought a very nice '03 model with less than 4,000 miles on it. I have only ridden it about 20 miles at this point, but WOW!, what a motorcyle. I have ridden dirt bikes a large part of my life and I had a stint as the owner of a Goldwing. About 5 months ago I bought a really well preserved '82 Kawasaki KZ550 LTD from a friend. Riding the KZ has been so much fun that I have really been rebitten by the street bike bug. I stumbled onto the Blackbird on the 'net by accident. I utilized lots of the information on this site to make my final decision that this is the bike for me. I already know that this bike is going to be a real blast and is just the balance I was looking for between sport and touring. I don't spend that much time on the computer, but I look forward to participating in this forum. Thanks to all who have contributed to the wealth of knowledge contained in the Blackbird forums.

G'day from Down Under.

The bird can be an awesome piece of machinery, but dont let her bite you too hard before you are ready for what she has to offer (ie, watch the right wrist.......).

I found the bike on cycletrader.com. Got it from a guy who bought it new in '05. He had some health issues that made it difficult for him to ride anymore. After wiping off the dust from shipping, it looks like a brand new bike.

I'll post some pics later when I have some.

Welcome
I live on the west side if you ever want to run a trip together let me know. I commute on my bird 80 miles round trip 5 days a week and love her. Also check the southwest link on here its a good group as well and local for us they have a lot of rides and know the area very well.

Re: Hello from Arizona

Thanks Bees, Most of my riding is going to be relatively short and spontaneous in nature. I have a wife and kids and I usually find that I fit my rides around what everyone else is doing. I'll check that Southwest link. I didn't know about that. I would like to work a longer trip in here and there though.

Re: Hello from Arizona

Understand the short trip thing as well. I don't get out much either being married as well. But there are a few short trips you can run around the area depending on your location. Here is the link to southwest

It just aint right to bring a new member into the family and leave it in the garage. Here in Arizona it is averaging about 113 degrees F/ 45 C every day this time of year. It is about that same temperature in the garage. The kitchen is a much nicer place to get to know the bike a little and do some tinkering. Fortunately, my wife is an awesome lady and she understands and allows me to more fully utilize the kitchen to its full benefit.

Bees, thanks for the link. I'll check it out.

Hey Frank how have you been. If you and twist decide to make a run let me know and how has work been. Got me a new job out in Mesa with an electronics firm working RF repair. Keeping real busy. And looking to go back to school and get a degree as an electrical engineer. Take care and hope to meet you sometime soon.
