Hello everyone, I am brand spanking new to the site. I just purchased a 2002 dos equis (silver) and I may have fallen in love with it already. Question - is there a reserve switch somewhere? I ordered an Owners Manual but it hasn't arrived. I ran out of gas yesterday at only 194 miles, when I thought for sure a 6-gallon tank would have taken me much closer to 240 miles.

Welcome to the site. There is no reserve switch, just a low fuel warning light that comes on with 1 gallon remaining.

| From New York congrats on the very nice "SILVER" Bird great bike!! One would think that you would get gas mileage in the forties but honestly when you ride around on such a wonderful machine it is hard to keep from cracking the throttle which puts you in the low to mid 30's for MPG. There are a couple of threads here on Mileage and what others guys are getting check it out.
Oh yeah one other thing the last black LCD segment on the fuel gauge blinks when you are in need of gas. This is sort of a heads up go get gas indicator. As Paul stated you have about one gallon left when this happens, so keep an eye on it and you will be fine.
Once again congrats on the SILVER Bird!!!!!!!!

But guys, 32 mpg??? I ride unbelievably conservatively. Always under 70. I did let it rip a couple of times just to get a feel for the acceleration compared to my Ninja. Anyway, maybe this second tank will give me a better feel for average mileage, and YES I will pay attention to the blinking fuel LED this time. Thanks for the help !!!!

| Hi Kevin11 from the U,K . I have seen double figures from a tank full on a tack day and under 150 miles on some fast road trips. "Project 1200" the making of a monster. |

Conservatively commuting I get 42-44 mpg or about 18 klms per litre ! My warning comes on at about 300 klms !
Check that your sprocket ratios are stock, some owners change the ratio to get more torque but lose out big time in economy !

Hate to boast, NOT, but last weekend riding from New Mexico to Nevada and at some seriously hyper speeds for long stretches, my bird got better than 40 mpg always.
