Hey I'm Chris, I just picked up on a cbr100xx. New to the forum and new to the bike as well. Any tips or things I should look out for with this bike would be great. Also what does it take to install so frame sliders on the bike?

Welcome. Sliders make good sense but I haven't put them on yet.

Any reason why I should or shouldn't do the sliders?

One would be some holes in your fairings, and I have seen photos of cracked frames from these. But as i have already found out, the fairing can get pretty scratched up if you dont have them.

I use crash bungs from Jaws. Also frame plugs to tidy up the look. But, you will need a deep wallet once you start blinging out the Bird for performance and looks.

| Chris. I did the low no speed srhooms from Jaws or John's Bike Bits. Did not want to drill the faring for the real sliders. Figure most likely I will drop it in the garage or parking lot. If it and me gets hit figure insurance will right the bike off so the sliders will do me no good.
But just my .02 cents

I've often wondered about sliders and their effectiveness. It seems that in the right type of crash that they could save you from some damage. In most of the sport bike wrecks that I have seen the sliders didn't seem to make much of a difference. Even in low side sliding type wrecks they haven't saved the faring parts entirely. They do add a racer look to a bike. I'm also of the same line of thought as Shorebird. It doesn't take much to total a bike with a faring and turn it into an insurance write-off.
