My name is Joe, I have been ridding a 1991 Honda ST1100 for four years and 76K miles, love this bike. The old girl has 108K on the odometer, still looks and runs like new. Not to say that some repairs have not been made. After another rear tire, she will be ready of a 4K mile rally (TexSTOC) in September.
Every now and again I start to thinking about another bike, Gold Wing or Super Black Bird are the only ones that seem to interest me. This April, I rented a Gold Wing for two days, rode about 650 miles, nice bike, really liked the package. I was almost ready to buy a new airbagger, then Honda announced production going to Japan. Nothing wrong with Japan manufacture, however with production at a new plant this probably means a complete re-do of the Wing. Will the GL1800 become an orphan? Think I will wait.
Currently, I am thinking Super Black Bird, still in production but was last imported to the USA as a 2003 model. Just researching for now.
I do my own wrenching, seldom touch peg acorns and rear tire generally wears out in the center.
