As soon as the Ex-wife moved out, my dad and I sold our '88 1000 Hurricanes and bought matching '99 XXs. I know the local dealership from when I worked there as a kid back '74, so I was able to assemble myself out of the crate.
4 years ago I crashed mine by Deal's Gap and found my current 2000 replacement. My avatar pic is me following my dad at the Cherahala Skyway, by Deal's Gap.
Sure, I'd like to be able to run with H-Bus's, but I am a Honda guy for over 45 years. Of course, who wouldn't like another 20 hp?? However, the XX does everything, and more, than I could ever expect. And it still is highly entertaining to ride.
In the '80's I road-raced and our small-time race team went by the name of Team Ominous (means "threatening"). When I won the #1 plate in our local race club (CRA) I acquired the nickname ominous1, on a '87 600 Hurricane. I was also president of the CRA at the time.
I am also a senior member on mn3s.org and 3si.org, both Dodge Stealth/Mitsubishi 300GT forums.
I look forward to being in the community.
Later,
ominousone

My great granny came from Greece in the very early 1900's and out liced 2 Greek husbands. And yes I am very lucky to be able to ride with the ole man who is 74 years young and still pretty swift. We are hoping to go down to Deal's Gap in a few weeks.

Welcome from the windy city. We have a thread up here somewhere for those of us who started on Hurricanes. I still have an 88 1000F. Check out my gallery for pics. Enjoy the bird and this site.

I have to say you are very blessed to be able to do stuff like that with your Dad that is awesome! I hope someday I can teach my son to ride and go out and purchase 2 matching bikes also. WOW that is so cool !! Once again you have been very blessed, next time you get to go out with your Dad on a ride thank him. |

G'day from Oz.
I wish I could ride with my dad, but his mind is closed on bikes now. He used to tour England on a 125Bantam (2up), and firmly believes that anything over 125cc is dangerous and unneccessary. Oh, to get him on a bird......

I know I am lucky to be able to ride with the ole man. He lives in the Chicago area, so when we take trips now, like to Deal's Gap, we'll throw throw them on a trailer and get to the destination. When he lived in Las Vegas, we'd ride to Denver, a half way point, then ride to California and drive the Pacific Coast Hwy. We'd put near 6000 miles on in 2 weeks. Gets kind of grueling.
Also, I couldn't help but notice that our friends from outside the USA have better English than half our population...
Ride safe all,

They are better with grammar, punctuation, spelling and typing as well.
I believe that you meant "our" instead or "out" in your last sentence. |
