Ive just killed my Blackird (blue) I crashed it but was knocked out cold at site so not sure what she's like as yet. Just out of hospital and going to pick it up this afternoon so will know more later..I'm losing my licence so need some advice on the following: who wants it? Do I sell it for parts and where do I go to do that (UK Suffolk) do I break it down myself and Ebay it? or do it up? (haven't seen it yet at time of writting) Advice needed and welcomed, shes been such a good workhorse I want the best for her. She's part of me. Dave | ||

...sorry to hear that...if you have enough workspaceand a good toolbox you can remove the parts and post then on e-bay....don't worry as long as you're ok in health soon you gonna have a new one for you...!

What a welcome!! Sorry to hear that. Hope you heal up quick and get back up. I'd suggest you wait until you can asses the damage before making a decision.

Welcome from the windy city. Sorry to hear of your get off. I would wait and see what it looks like before making any decisions. Did you have insurance on it that would cover the damage?

G'day from the colonies. Did you insurance, and if so, wait and see what they decide. As for rebuilding, it all depends on what the damage is. As for selling, you may get more for parting her out. Hope you recover from your injuries quickly.

See if it is feasible to restore. The 'Bird has been around for over 10 years nealy unchanged so parts should not be too much of a problem. Good luck to yourself and your future

Thanks for reply Bro. I'd really like to 'Street Bike' her. I've lost license for a year so it could be my new hobby. I'm a carpenter by trade and tool savvy but I've just never really been a petrol head. I've had bikes for 16 years but if they go wrong they go to shop. Can you recommend a good mechanic web site for idiots or proffer some advice buddy?

Wow I've just seen all the threads sent to my plight. I'm moved. I'm well on the mend thanks for the kind words. As for my baby she's front end messy (forks/rad/etc) Otherwise shes not looking too bad, apart from Bodywork. She my be twisted tho. No Insurance option, I was over the drink limit. Idiot!!!!

The problem with limits is if you do have a beer or two you have no way of knowing if you are at or possibly over the limit. Here in Illinois we have a .08 limit. They typically state that this is no more then two beers for a 180-200lb adult. How do you know when you are at .07 vs. .11? I don't personnaly feel that my skills or reaction time are diminished with one beer on a full stomach. I typically will not even have a single beer even with a meal if I'm driving any vehicle but may do so on occassion. I consider myself a cautious driver but when I have one I'm even more cautious. Its more out of concern of getting pulled over then out of fear of an accident. |

Well what's worse Steve, being a little intoxicated driving the speed limit or driving like an idiot sober? No difference. Point is... we are adults and we sometimes make wrong decisions. Making laws more strict does not fix these problems making the right decision does.
