Long time rider (40+years) just sold BMW K12RS because after 20K I could never get comfortable on it. Rode a "bird" prior to buying Beemer and loved it but it had been "beat" and I opted for a new Beemer. So now I'm on the hunt for a bird. Looking forward to learning more about the birds.

Welcome.
Many people try, make the wrong decision and come back - and they are always welcome because it's OK to make a mistake in life.
It takes a truly wise person to be humble and admit a mistake then turn it around to their benefit. Life is about to begin for you!
Good luck in the search for your dream.

Welcome from a neighbor Buckeye. Im new myself. I just purchased my Blackbird 2 weeks ago. Converted from a VFR. So far its a great bike and Im taking as much in here as I can. Hopefully you will be going to the GP later this summer. I will be there for sure and yes, will be riding the Bird. I looked here for a bike, but eventually purchased on EBay. I know of a guy that has a 2000 sitting in a warehouse with only 4000 miles. Needs some work. Maybe new front fender, new chain, rotors, possibly new tank as inside might be rusted. If you are interested let me know and I will provide you with his number. Im guessing it could be had for a decent price. I went and looked at it, but he pissed me off because he advertised it as MINT condition. It is not mint but you could probably pick it up for around 3K possibly and then do what needed done.

Thanks for the referral, but I learned a long time ago it is much faster, easier, and most times cheaper in the long run to buy the best one you can buy. I'll run across one soon. I don't know what the GP is right now but I will keep an eye out and learn.
Thanks for the warm welcome, guys

Knobby... the GP is Moto GP. Its a motorcycle race. Theres a couple of nice ones for sale here on the forum under the for sale section. There are also some on cycletrader but you might have to make a trip.

Im new here and already know that most here are pretty friendly. I cant be sure yet but I think that the Blackbird community is pretty tight. As stated the Moto Gp is right there in your own back yard at The Brickyard. Your correct about the fixer uppers as well. I probably paid too much for mine at $6500 but it was mint with 4700 miles on it. Might as well be new as far as Im concerned.

The one in Chicago is right near me. It looks nice in the pics and has low milage. There are a couple of nice ones on the forum but you might be looking at a trip to get one. I did notice that the decals are not on the bike in Chicago. I'd inquire about that. Might have been dropped or wrecked or maybe the owner didn't like the decals. From the looks of it I would say that it was most likely that the owner didn't like the decals or might have dropped it and had it re painted. You should be able to tell by giving it a good once over. I have one that is mint so I can't see going for it myself. I would like to see it if I can find a free moment. If you do decide to look at it let me know. I'd be happy to join you if the timing works out.

Strek-
I did notice the decals are missing. I'll be sure to ask about it and I will get with you before I go see it. I've been away from the Honda's too long not to take advantage of your knowledge and experience with the birds. Thanks for the offer.
