Hi Folks,

Got my BB new in 1999, based in South West Scotland, I don't know anybody these days that still ride bikes, so I a bit of a loner in the respect

I was trawling for information on rear shocks when I came across this site
the rear of my BB is not what it used to be and is starting to sag under load, the shock is either needing tweeked and tlc or I need a new wife not sure whats cheeper.

Hope to spend some time here, looks like a nice place.

Cheers

Jim

Oh, aye, the dangerous bit, I had a huge disaster with a laser printer this happened the same day I discovered tank slappers on the BB, I also took out a transit van mirror with my shoulder while filtering that morning, after the story at tea break I got labelled dangerousjim.

You can send your rear shock to Jaws for a re-build and order a pre-load and new spring/spacer set up from him as well. Or you can go Penske rear. If you rebuild the rear, do the front as well. For the perfect front install Race Tech Gold Valves. The six inch spacer is just a ride hight adjustment and doesn't deal with suspension, imho.

I think he mean't 6mm spacer.

Ohlins, Penske, are two of the better rear shocks. I need to do front and rear myself. Wife has her own GSXR, so I can only blame the wear on myself.

Thanks folks,

I have gradually over the years worked the rear shock up to its hardest setting, seems to work fine for me solo. I will however check and adjust the pre-load as suggested in another thread, if no change required or after an adjustment I still feel that its sagging, I will then consider my options new or rebuild + spacer.

Cheers

Jim
