Hey all, just bought a 97 BB with 4300 miles on it. Its my first one but so far it seems like a pretty good bike. I'm not sure if I will be keeping it though.

I have been toying around with moving over to the cruiser/bruiser class, something like a Yamaha Star Warrior but I loved the look of the BB and the deal was right.

So far the bike is pretty smooth and handles well (power aint half bad either ) but I am decent size guy and 240lbs on the wrists gets old after awhile.

Anyway nice boards you have here and lots of stuff obviously for me to learn about the bike.

G'day from Oz. Use the search function for "sore wrists", there is a heap of info here for you. BTW, I'm 6'2" and 240lb.

From another Chicago BB owner. Really your decision on keeping the XX should be an easy one. If you feel the need. The need for speed keep the bird. If you are concerned about pressure on the wrists keep in mind that some of this will diminish as you ride more and get used to the riding position.
You can also do a few things to raise the bars and lessen the pressure on your wrists. There are posts on this forum that discuss this. Do a search on bars and you'll find a lot of good options. I went with the VFR clipons myself.
just an inch or so higher and a bit back. I did it more because I felt that it would be closer to my other bike and to me it gives me a bit more of a better position to provide leverage. Hope this helps. Post up some pics. You can also go to the member menu and Pin your location on the MAP. Where abouts in Chicago are you?

I am out in the far NW burbs myself, Island Lake. I'm still on the fence. I figure I will ride it as much as I can this month and decide early June that way if I do decide to part ways the season is still in full swing.

Good deal. I believe you will find that it will be hard to part with as you ride it more. Of course we are biased on this board. I have owned plenty of motorcycles. This one is the best by far. I'm not really into the cruiser bikes myself as I prefer bikes that handle and have some power. When I see cruiser I think that I might as well be in my car. If the soreness of the wrists continues to be bothersome there are things that you can do to raise up the bars. I work up in Waukegan and often take mine up to work. I have some friends in Island lake. Check out the posts on the area rides. Maybe we'll see you out on one. Enjoy the bird but be careful because its addicting

6'1", 230 lbs here. I've added heli bars to my bike, and I squeeze the tank with my thighs and keep my core tightened and it takes a great deal of pressure of the wrists. Give it a shot.
