Hooked on phonics worked for me so I have been just sitting back quietly reading posts for some time. However, the time has come that I will be needing some words/ideas of wisdom on how to make my bird a long-distance stallion. (
HObicus-Great Idea & I hope others have more visions/ideas similar to this!) This is because I just sold my other motorcycle (1999 BMW 1100gs) which had well over 100k miles & plentiful storage space. The saying is correct that "The Cheapest Thing On a BMW Motorycle is The Driver." I am worthless when it comes to fixing anything so I had to let her go.
There is some good that came from spending a great deal of time at the dealership, and it is my 2003 bird. I bought her 2 years ago when I noticed her sitting outside the BMW motorcycle dealership looking lonely. Only 5k miles (w/twin Yoshi pipes) and there was noticeable "chicken strip" wear on the tires. In two years, i have only put 17K miles on it and the longest trip was from Phoenix to Lake Tahoe. (Brake Line on the BMW broke last minute so I took the bird to a rally that was for historic R90s Beemers) When I arrived, I got a few questionable glances but what a great group of guys and they forgot I showed up on a Honda after a few beers anyways!). So, that is how the story begins, and I thank you in advance for all your knowledge and help.
