Hooked on phonics worked for me so I have been just sitting back quietly reading posts for some time. However, the time has come that I will be needing some words/ideas of wisdom on how to make my bird a long-distance stallion. (HObicus-Great Idea & I hope others have more visions/ideas similar to this!) This is because I just sold my other motorcycle (1999 BMW 1100gs) which had well over 100k miles & plentiful storage space. The saying is correct that "The Cheapest Thing On a BMW Motorycle is The Driver." I am worthless when it comes to fixing anything so I had to let her go.
There is some good that came from spending a great deal of time at the dealership, and it is my 2003 bird. I bought her 2 years ago when I noticed her sitting outside the BMW motorcycle dealership looking lonely. Only 5k miles (w/twin Yoshi pipes) and there was noticeable "chicken strip" wear on the tires. In two years, i have only put 17K miles on it and the longest trip was from Phoenix to Lake Tahoe. (Brake Line on the BMW broke last minute so I took the bird to a rally that was for historic R90s Beemers) When I arrived, I got a few questionable glances but what a great group of guys and they forgot I showed up on a Honda after a few beers anyways!). So, that is how the story begins, and I thank you in advance for all your knowledge and help.

G'day from Oz.

Feel free to ask any questions you want about setting your bird up for long distance work. Warchild and BrianR are two names that immediately spring to mind when it comes to long distance riding.
