I'm a Brit living in Singapore since last year. The laws prohibit me from importing any of my ropey old vehicles (76 Triumph Bonnie, 87 Lotus Excel) - so they can charge exorbitant prices for used cars.
On the bright side, used sportsbikes are affordable here so I have got back into the habit, having given up on them in the UK (insurance, speeding fines, crap weather)

On arrival I got a tatty 2001 zx6r which my wife rides.
Last month was looking at a (ahem) zx12r (just too green, looking its age) - then saw it...

new gleaming black paintjob, gold wheels but otherwise stock - 68k kms on the clock but that's low for a 2000 bike here - they get ridden not pampered.
I have to say it is awesome. Went up into Malaysia for some "testing" the night I got her. My eyes were out on stalks when I got back at 4am... having been "a bit quicker" than I ever managed on my fireblade or any previous bikes.

Had to scrub those new tyres in after all.
Have met some great local guys with CB1300, Hayabusa etc. Overnight mission to Thailand next month!
