Re: Drag racer from Texas

Bump.

Where's all the sharing?

I went to the drag strip by me this past wed' night and did well. There was a tail wind for once & the temp's were moderate.

I cut a 10.32 @ 134.5.

Re: Drag racer from Texas

Welcome!! I love to got to the track by San Antonio during the motorcycle shootout.
I managed my best time of 10.6@134 on my stock Bird. Not too shabby since it was the first time I raced her.
I just recently added a power commander and mapped it with my Scorpion exhaust and possibly looking at a 46 tooth rear sprocket.

What part of Texas you from??

Re: Drag racer from Texas

Sorry guy's that I haven't kept you posted on whats going on with my bike .
This winter I've torn it apart again and replaced the rod and main bearings , the thing had 35000 miles on it when I got it , also I'm trying something that I'm not sure of to get rid of the counter weights , I've cutoff the teeth on the crank and left the counterweights in place in order not too disturb the oil flow and this morning it's going to the machine shop to be balanced ,I can do my own machine work just can't balance it . I'll let you know how it turns out.

I have my counters out -- plugged the feed holes an took about 9 lbs out of the motor too. Next time I have it apart I'll document the procedure...

46? may be a lil tall try a 43 60 ft should go down and u will still be able to manage bike at that wheel base leaving hard

It's more for weight removal and the teeth will not be contacting and dragging in the oil . This is probably of marginal benefit.
I think APE does teeth removal also if requested.

Re: Drag racer from Texas

Removing the teeth prevents the balancers from turning reducing reciprocal drag on the engine. Worth 5ish HP, from what I have heard/read.

Remove them entirely and get about 10 lbs out of the motor. (Have to plug the oil journals properly.)

Welcome NightRyda

I'm not a "straightliner" but this thread is very interesting, learning about how you tweak the blackbird for dragging. Amazing.
