Just bought my Bird
Howdy all,
Just bought myself a 2005 Blackbird so thought i would join a forum related to my newest steed. I'm a 36y/o male from Perth Western Australia, not new to bikes or forums.
I also ride a K6 GSXR1000 which i was using for every day transport, weekend country blats and track days. I bought the bird to cut out the commuting on the GSXR.
Anyway that's about it, will have lots of questions no doubt and hope i can contribute where i can.

Welcome. Don't forget the Search button. Of course if you did that you wouldn't have any questions. We want some pics, tell us what tires you run on, oil you use, gear you wear, top speed, on U-Tube of course, beer you drink, etc, etc. We'll read it, comment, and give you a decision later if you can stay. :-)
'02 Bird, Yoshi SS full system, PCIII, Corbin GunfighterLady, Givi hard bags with full lighting system, Goodridge steel lines, HIDs, Pazzo levers, Jaws front suspension + RaceTec GoldValves, fork brace, Penske adj rear, Acumen GI, Heli Bars, Hel oil lines, BattleStep rear sets, Samco red silicon rad hoses. Dyna Coils. Galfer wave rotors.

Cheers for the welcome.
If i used the search function people would not be able to post awesome Re-Post pic's
j/k's
A bit of background on the bird. This was bought new in 2005 by my father who thought after 15 years off bikes after a major crash this bike would bring back his passion for bikes. He was wrong
So offered it to me.
Since being bought it has only done 3000kms and all servicing has been done by the Honda shop so not sure on oils etc. Tyres are what ever they come out with but will be changed shortly. Still undecided on what tyre yet as some research will be needed as i usually just buy the stickiest tyre i can for the GSXR.
Always wear gear when on my bikes and the birds top speed i would not have a clue, never had the need to see what it can do yet..

Re: Just bought my Bird
Welcome Havago
Sorry to hear about your father but if the head isn't right then he has certainly made the correct decision ............ and every cloud has a silver lining, you have got a fine Bird there!
Still undecided on what tyre yet as some research will be needed
and like all Bike forums there are 10000000 different opinions! My advice is concentrate on what other Aussies rate, tyres that are 'rated' here in the UK don't always work in the States and visa versa. Aus riders appear to be half way between the two extremes! I always use ST tyres on my 'daily Bird' and expect 7000 miles per set - bet you don't get that with stickies!
One thing to say though is after the GSXR you will find the turn in very slow ........ a 6mm spacer on top of the shock works wonders.
Top tip for commuting, you can fold the mirrors in when you are on the go .......... amazing what small gaps you can fit through
Full of Hot air? Intercool yourself............ you know it makes sense

Re: Just bought my Bird
Welcome, 3000 Klms, Shit, the bloody thing is brand new, Run it in first,
Check out Para045, He's in Perth as well. Good for tyre info over there,
You will probably use different tyres in Perth to us over here on the East coast of Australia,
This is just to calm Ugly down, He's all most having a hissy fit on tyres, Hahahahahaha
Cheers,
Brian,

Yes this is something i have noticed while riding it. Before i bought it off the old man i put about 2000 of those kilometers on it.
I did read somewhere about that 6mm spacer and your post just reinforced this so i have bought one from jaws along with a de-linking kit for the brakes.

Welcome, Havago. It's been a while since we had a good tire thread to maliciously edit and ridicule so just ignore Uglystick.
