I got myself the carbed Bird which runs beautifully but no some days if i haven't started her using the choke it takes on a strange personality:
the bike vibrates on low rpm, but after +-7000 rpms the power comes on strong but inconsistent on off on off
she revs up slow, vibrates and sounds like a tractor

the next day having started her with the choke its all back to normal running smoothly through all rev ranges and vibration free
my baby is stock standard

any advise on this would be greatly appreciated

Sounds like fuel starvation or spark on one of four cylinder

had this on my old t595 daytond turned out to be a fubar'd sparkplug

Thanx ya'llHow do I solve dis fuel starvation problem, just had a major service, carbs re-done because the bike sit for a while before a bought her. They claimed 2have replaced all the spark plugsAlso I feel my fuel consumption isn't where it should be. I get abt 190kms before the fuel lights come on

even in a batch of new sparks you may get a duff give em all a check and make sure your fuel hoses aren't kinked

yep sounds like a plug, as to fuel economy 190 km equals about 120 miles, same as mine depending how hard your driving, carb bikes have smaller tanks than fi bikes.

my baby just got back frm the mechanic. was a dead plug and chain time tension i think thats wat its called. im a little upset coz its the same story all the time, dis bike eats spark plugs. 2 in 1 month.

hi j, when u start bike dont switch it off on choke, let it warm up fully, the plugs will fail if u do this regularly,

Sounds a little like a sticky choke on one or more of the carbs causing overfueling, and evetually plug fouling....................edit: or a float height a bit high/float needle not sealing...................

thanx ya'll, most important question is how should i start my baby in the mornings without flooding the plugs? wats the secret to getting her running safely. just bought a new air filter(standard) after abt 38000kms on the clock.
by the way my bike doesnt usually start if a dont use the choke and thats in summer

Had a similar problem on mine, not running well unless higher in the rev range, problem starting etc, smelt unburnt fuel a lot too........put in a new set of plugs and it was perfect thereafter.

You may also have a vacuum leak. Check the carb boots, vacuum line to the fuel petcock, airbox, etc.
