New Super Blackbird Owner
I just purchased the bike I've been wanting for quite awhile, a 1998 Honda CBR1100XX Super Blackbird! I've been riding a 1996 Honda ST1100 for several years, and I'm looking forward to stepping up to Blackbird performance!! I'm interested in any advice that other experienced Blackbird riders can offer to make the transition easier, and above all, safer! I have to admit to being a little apprehensive about having an extra 65 horsepower on tap!!! Thanks in advance for any and all advice you can offer!

That's about it in a nutshell. You'll have some adjusting to do to your riding position as the XX has you sitting in a more aggressive pose. It takes some getting used to.
Oh, and count your shifts or you'll be forever looking for 7th gear.

Re: New Super Blackbird Owner
Nothing to be frightened of, the Bird has good torque, you can ride it all day below 7000 still make good progress and get yourself happy with the bike .......... then the fun starts. Having ridden an ST1100 you have a good head start since you are used to heavier bikes so no stepping stone there.
Enjoy.
Full of Hot air? Intercool yourself............ you know it makes sense

Welcome from the windy city.
I used to have friends in Danville when I was a youngster. Hometown of Dick and Jerry Van Dyke. Spent some time down there years ago. It's been years since I've been there but always enjoyed my visits.
Enjoy the bike.

Re: New Super Blackbird Owner
Thanks to everyone for your warm welcomes to this forum! Thanks also for the very straight and simple and good advice! Seems it all boils down to playing it safe with the throttle as I am becoming accustomed to the bike! I get it!! Looking forward to riding more as the weather permits!

Re: New Super Blackbird Owner
aboard!
As long as you don't have the slowest coloured silver one, you're good to go!
UNDERSTEER is when you hit the wall with the front of the bike.
OVERSTEER is when you hit the wall with the rear.
HORSEPOWER is how fast you hit the wall.
TORQUE is how far you take the wall with you.

Re: New Super Blackbird Owner
bit late with that one bob, what colours your bird ?
-
Bob's used to running behind - he rides a back-of-the-pack red bird.
