Date reserved!
Rich, lets see if we can plan on hooking up with SokanXX. I'll ride north if we're all going to be able to ride together. Maybe we could all meet in Black Hills. I'll have to look at a map.
Can't wait.

I'm in.
No ifs ands or buts.
Hey Dale are you planning doing the group thing at the big hotel on the main street. I can't think of the name of it right now. They have a casino in the basement.
I know I have some of their matches around here somewhere.

Too, Ely is quite high itself... 6435 ft above sea level, so the evenings can actually be pretty nippy, even in July. Quote: |

After the meet, Dee and I will be going to the GP. We are going to ride the Yosimite (sp) area for a couple days then head to the GP on Thursday.
Gonna be a hellava ride!
Anyone care to join us?
EDIT: Can't make it. Sorry, I'm out.

Sounds like a good reason to get away from the motorpool! Anybody coming through El Paso? I could use some company!

Depends. When it gets a little closer, I'm going to try to make arrangements to hook up with some of the easterners as they come across. If not, then I'll be coming thru El Paso for sure. Even if I do go north, I might be convinced to come thru EP and go north thru New Mexico. (Man, I am soooo looking forward to this. ) I'll keep in touch with PM as the date comes up. The other thing is I like to get in a little early, my job allows me to just not book shifts when I want to be off, so I can take as much time as I can afford, so I may be outside of your travel days.

Pretty much perfect for the BB.
Weather is perfect in Eastern NV with the high altitudes. It will be in the 90's at 2:00pm or maybe even a bit higher but you will probably not notice it since humidity is damn near nill. Afternoon winds will be challenging as NEvada can whip up some pretty strong winds.
Those heading to Moto GP do not miss the opportunity to cross Hwy 120 from Benton to Lee Vining (yee-haw). From there enjoy the RV traffic and take Tioga pass through Yosemite. When you see a big ass pullout on the side of a hill to your right (entrances at either end) stop in for a pic. That is there because it provides an overlook of the Valley with a good view of Half Dome.
Should see you there.

OH Yeah! It's still happening. Plans are being made, reservations reservated, gas money being taken out of the grocery cash, etc. Looking forward to meeting you. Are you riding out?

4 months left to get my XX put back together. It depends on where I'm at in July. I'll be riding out from somewhere east of the mississippi. Perhaps I'll run into a few of ya along the way. It would also be a good time to stop in TX and see my daughters.

Gentlemen!
I've been a little too ate up trying to prep the new Blackbird for a pretty intense event I have planned for it next summer, so I apologize for not getting this info out sooner.
We are staying at the "Four-Sevens" Hotel, which is the sister organization of the Hotel Nevada. I have run a number of Endurance Rallies out of Ely in the past, and I've used the Hotel 4-7's to house the participants. In fact, here is a photo of myself in front of the Hotel 4-7's, about to take my old Ti XX out on an Odometer Check ride during the "White Pine Fever" rally I conducted last May:
The Hotel 4-7's is not the Ritz, but it does the job, and pretty inexpensively, too! Our Group Rate for rooms is only $34.95/night!
So you can start calling up the Hotel 4-7's and talk to our main Point-of-Contact there, "Vonna", and definitely tell her you are with the " HookersXX" group for July 13th-14th so you get the killer room rate. The number is 775-289-4747
And to give you an idea of some of the riding opportunities in the nearby Great Basin National Park, here is a shot of some of the scenery that is there:
Bet you thought Nevada was all desert, huh?
Get ready to PARTY, folks! |
