Getting two bikes ready for this trip. My son Wyatt and I will be going. Wrecked the 2012 Wing in this video. Will be taking the XX with bags on it and the ST1300 this trip. I will start posting bike prep photos and trip photos and video here too. Going to try something new this trip. Have been debating on whether I should buy a Camera Drone. After watching the video below from the last trip I think I will. This is my #2 daughter Heidi on her trip just before college after graduating from High School. She put this video together as a Christmas surprise. I enjoy watching it every now and then.

Planning on going up through Wyoming to Glacier NP Through Idaho to Seattle area then down to N.California to Frisco. then over to Tahoe and Yosemite, Sequoia NP then over to the Grand Canyon then up through Colorado and back home to Illinois. That is the plan but if we make it to half of those places it will still be good!

Some of those roads and especially the scenery is stunning, not surprised you like to view it on occasions.
I was viewing it again today and my wife had wanted me to do something and came in and said "When you're done day dreaming let me know" What? "Day dreaming about being out on the road on another bike trip" Ohhhh... 3 weeks and I will be on another babe!
Stay tuned Ziplex more will be coming.

I was only going to be in the garage for 2 to 3 hrs but ended up in there until midnight and got almost everything done. Stripped the back end and wired up Admore lighting for givi side and top case. Then installed the lighting in the luggage, put new clamps on the exhaust, mounted all the luggage and figured out the best way to run the wiring and then secured it. Pulled the air filter and washed it and oiled it. Went to bed.

Tonight I had the opportunity to take off the lower side cowls three times while trying to put the center lower cowl on. Only thing for panels not yet removed is the nose cone. So...Tonight I got Loraine out in the garage to show her what I had accomplished and show it off to her. She comes out and the first thing she said before anything was "Wow, you turned your sport bike into a Goldwing!" She liked the lights and was impressed with the trunk. It is a GIVI V56 Maxia. It is heads and shoulders above the keyless E41 side panniers. Just the way it closes and opens fit and finish. I bought a new tent on Steepandcheap.com (ALPS Mountaineering Chaos 3 person tent reg. $299 on sale for $130. ) Just set the tent up in the living room tonight. I am impressed with it especially for the money. Also gotten on Steep&Cheap two Thermarest sleeping pads(NeoAir Trekker Sleeping Pad)

I have to blow them up but it takes about 18 deep breaths to do it. I tried that out on the floor tonight too and Loraine found me dozing off and I was quite comfortable. I had her try it out and I came back 30 minutes later and found her still on it taking a nap. The tent is 6 pounds and the pad very compact and is 1 lb 11 ounces. I had no problems repacking the tent or the sleeping pad back into their respective stuff sacks. I need to get a hold of Jamie about the forks. If he can't get them to me quick then I won't have time to do it!
As you can tell my itinerary has changed due to weather. I am going on the southern leg first for two reasons. 1. Weather! it has been cold this spring and many of the Northern passes might not be dug out yet by mid June! Saying that I am going to head out to Colorado and see how cold it is and if many of the passes are filled with snow. planning to get out to Loveland in one long day. then go through Estes and rocky Mountain NP wind our way down to Lake City onto 160 with some of 50 in between then up through Durango to Ouray and back to Durango. Want to go down into Northern New Mexico and get over to 191 in (AZ - Alpine to Morenci) then up to Phoenix so Beestoy can put on his awesome electronic cruise control kit (reason #2). Since I couldn't get a seat done in time for my ST1300 I ordered 2 airhawk seat pads one for each bike. My LDComfort under garments came in today too. Also got some of the Cool Sleeves for riding in the hot southwest and the California Valley. I also bought a sealant that will make it easy to wipe off bugs. It is called TopCoat need to clean off the bikes then apply. Also said you can put it on anything. Flat paints, Plastic windshields and helmet visors. Bugs come off with a wet cloth and water will not stick so your visor will stay clear! I will report on how all functions as I go. I will post here but if you want to see more pics and videos I usually post through out my trips on Facebook/Youtube so the family can follow along (Guy Galster) youtube channel address is on my profile..
That's it for tonight.
Enjoy your day as it will never be here again!

Thanks Gina. Everywhere you go around here you see tractors sitting in the entrance to the fields. Many fields aren't even planted yet it has been so wet. On the upside... maybe there won't be any forest fires.

Cool Sleeves by LDComfort.
Sending the small airhawk pads back and getting large ones. Washing the bikes and then claying them today and applying Top Coat sealant. Doing this so bugs will wash off easily. Applying to visors and helmets too. Supposedly rain will slide off better than RainX which you are not supposed to use as it is a petroleum based product. Bad for visors.

So what exactly are you trying to say Ziplex!? Hahahaha. Yes, I agree. And I know why you threw your crappy phone holder too... it is satisfying.

yes you can run up through chino across to the 40 and then through Williams. I would highly recommend you make the right turn detour and ride through town. it's a part of old route 66

If you ride through Prescott over a weekend be sure to let us know, i need to get out and ride with you both for a bit. Stopping in the historic town of Prescott and jerome is worth the trip. I'M in Coyote springs right between both, downtown Prescott is 15miles away and same for jerome. If you need oil changes stop by my shop in Prescott Valley i have the best mc oil on the market Onguard 10w40 full synthetic (jaso). I should start an oil thread. That should be fun.

I have been pondering on getting a flock together. I would like it but Wyatt is just entering his second year of riding and I don't want him to be pressured subconsciously into going faster than be is normally comfortable going. If we were going to head out Sunday morning and get together and eat breakfast then head out and everyone went there way or we all take the same way at our own paces then that would be great! We would need to get a group picture of the bikes and owners too.

Tonight I clayed the bike with Chemical Guy's lube and clay block. Took 20 minutes to do the bike. What a difference in smoothness! Wyatt was asking why, why, why. Then he felt a before and after. He exclaimed "Wow, that is smooth. It feels like that table in that restaurant." The table is a high end polished marble. Then I sprayed and wiped the Top coat F-11 on and Wyatt came behind and lightly buffed any that I left behind. Wow it made a shine. Made the plastics, black trim, and aluminum frame look good too.

Here is the result after three coats of Top Coat F-11. I couldn't believe it. I swear the bike is a deeper red. Doesn't look so faded. I told Wyatt and he said he had thought so too. He did it while I was at work. Wyatt said to coat the whole bike took him ten minutes each time.
I thought in one of their videos that it would not make your seat slippery so I put it on the seat. It definitely makes your seat slippery. Water should run off. With the Corbin seat I couldn't shift from side to side as fast as I wanted. I won't have that problem now! very slippery. It will wear off and I won't do it on the seat again.

Got done cleaning the ST1300A and top coating it. Wired up a power source for the radar.
Then put the BB on the lift and and removed the front wheel. Need to replace the tire. Now trying to get the forks out. Have everything off and I am having trouble getting the 14 mm lower pinch bolt off. Can get a wrench on it but can't get it loose! I don't believe these forks have ever been off. My Daugherty suspension came in yesterday so going to try and get it in tomorrow.

Had to get my 3/8" breaker bar up in there and got it. Forks off and new tire on rim. Now to balance tire and read Jamie's instructions!

Here is Jamie's full kit for the BB. For some reason I thought it came with oil. No oil so I am going to have to find some place to get it. Since it is Saturday night it might be faster to get some on line.

Jamie Dougherty. Daugherty Motorsports - Motorcycle Suspension Performance and Modification
If not for the import duty bla blah i would have gone with them. The Andeanis were a much better postage issue. Five days to arrive. https://www.omniaracing.net/en/andr...a-cbr1100xx-super-blackbird-9606-p-23933.html
Forgive my ignorance here Ade'.....are these simply a drop in replacement for the standard dampers and springs? IE: remove old/fit new, bolt up, add oil.....or is it more involved than that?

Also, what benefitted your ride quality more, these front cart's or that lovely Ohlins shock you have on the rear?

These are adjustable forks now. Tuned to your weight and riding style.

Help! How do I remove the oil lock piece off of the fork damper?
Manual just shows it separated from the damper. Can't pull it off by hand. Don't want to score it either. Need it off to get to the retaining clip. So I can remove the damper rod.

Argg...I had the exact same problem, and never solved it! I finally just took the forks to my suspension guy and he dialed me in. But he didn't do a re-valve, so I don't think he had to take those caps off. :-(

Sorry dude; hopefully somebody here will remember how to remove those and share!!
