Recent talk with Nutter67 has led me to post this .....
Everyone has a preferred side for riding in the bends. Mine is left handers and I'm right handed !
Just wondering if this is the trend ?
A few track days and 30 years of riding has confirmed my ideosyncrocy !

Right handed, the longer the left, the faster I get. It just feels right, ah, er, correct!
I see this time and time again at motorcycle training classes...much easier to turn left. It is a brain thing.

I've often wondered about this and whether if what side of the road you ride on has any bearing on your preferences for either left and right hand corners.
I am left-handed (handwriting and eating with my spoon only), everything else is right-handed, so you could say that I'm a bit of a screw-up, but I seriously prefer a fast left-hander over a right-hander any day. Pure happiness is a 65km/h left hand sweeper taken at $1.20
I initially thought that my preference for left hand corners may have come from riding on the left side of the road, and that those who ride on the right side of the road would prefer right handers over left. After talking with a number of mates (in Oz), they also seem to prefer left handers over right, reinforcing my argument.
So it is with some surprise that I read that a few of our Northern brothers that ride on the right side of the road prefer left handers. It seems as though my theory may not hold water.
So c'mon guys, let me know if my theory has any merit, or whether I just pulled it out of my you-know-where. It would be interesting to find out.
Cheers,
Eddie.

I could always volunteer my services to scientifically test the theory with a comprehensive road trip on US and Canadian roads. I've driven there on many occasions, but never on two wheels.
I'm not in it to make money, just to claim my expenses, is all...
Who's up to helping me out on this one? My Paypal account number is...
Cheers,
Eddie.

As far as riding goes I like both left and right hand turns. I'm a righty but never noticed a preference for either left hand or right hand turns.

I'm right handed but I prefer left handed turns because if I enter too fast and drift wide, I won't be drifting into the path of on-coming traffic as I would if it were a right hander. It's a safety thing, y'know. And remember....
Safety is no accident!

I am right handed and left hand turns just feel sublime.Right hand turns have never felt good, even though i have scraped the peg,the left side has a lot more missing.Strange hey but it's good to see that i'm not the only one who thinks so.

I am right handed and definately like going to the left better than the right.
Same thing when I skate, much better at turning to the left than to the right.
And when it comes to something else, there again the left hand wins...

I'm right-handed and prefer lefts also, which I was always led to believe is what surfers associate with being "Goofy-Footed" or right-handed with the left foot forward on the board. My theory is that I feel more comfortable with my strongest arm in control.

| I'm right handed. We ride on the left (although I prefer to be close to the centre line - can overtake easier that way).I love left hand bends.I'm wary of being near the gutter at the start of a right hand bend (better view round the corner) which I think stems from an accident early in my biking days when I hit the curb and wrecked my bike - "target fixation" they say.......pain and suffering i say! |

Im left handed ride on the left side of the road and prefer left handed corners I feel more balanced I dont know if its because of the way your brain works or because the left side of your body is physically stronger?
