O.k. Strek, before I changes my mind...So, after washing the Bird I figured I'd dry the inards with a quick cruise. Noticed I was low on gas so went to fill up. Cut her off, put 'er up on the center stand, filled 'er up, went to restart it, and...nothing. Well, a half-assed cough at best. So now I'm thinking, whoa, whatthehell? After several tries I start thinking of solutions. (here comes the start of the funnies) I check the oil stick and it's dry. I think to myself, "I know I didn't check the oil this morning, but I don't have any leakage". So now I'm like, "damn, I gotta get motorcycle oil". So I secure the Bird (that was a whole 'nother funny), and hop in a taxi to a local shop, about a mile away. I explain to the mech the situation and he doubts that it's the oil because blah, blah, blah. He says the battery. But this battery is 3 months old, brand new from honda! O.k, get back in taxi, back to gas station, 12 bucks roundtrip--oh, shop uses regular 20/50 wt oil, so he says I don't need motorcycle oil--buy a bottle of oil from gas station 3 bucks or so I think, get back to the bike and think to myself, "did I check the oil with the bike on the side stand??" So I put it up on the center stand and check again. Oil is full.Dammit, how can a three month old battery be bad?!? O.k. Think. Tried to stop around 6 cabs for a boost before one agrees--nobody has cables, yeah, o.k. How much for a boost? 7 bucks. Hwy robbery, but I'm desperate. Get the Bird cranked, now I'm facing the curb, with a hump of pavement behind me. I try to use leg power to get it over--no good. O.k. I'll just ride up on the curb and hit the street.(Another funny coming in 3..2..1..)Didn't give it enough gas and she cut off!!!! I tried to start her again, and yep, you guessed it. Nuthin. I quietly curse from under my helmet and take the gear back off to go through about 3 more cabs before one stops for me. This one charges me 5 bucks and when I get started again, I make a quiet vow under my helmet that I'll let my hand get cut off, before I let this bike cut off. This time I find the strength to back it up, and ride a few miles to park it. During the ride back she also sounded a little funny under revs, not the usual growl. Do you think this may be a strator issue? I haven't checked it out yet, and YES I have roadside assistance, but I refused to call for help.(stupid male hormones)

Man, I can only IMAGINE LIVING in that Urban of an area. I have been to many MANY places. Going somewhere, and living somewhere are two different things!

Mind you, the story I am about to tell, we NEVER entered a town bigger than 20,000 people.

For your humor, one time me and four other guys all had an opportunity to go for a ride on an unseasonably cool day in the summer down here. We got about 80 miles into the ride (about 80 miles away from home), and my bike DIES WHILE I AM RIDING IT. Crap! Now what? I raise my left arm, so I don't get run over, and pull to the side of the road. I turn the key off, back on, Bang! The Bike fires, revs, everything okay. I begin to go again, and as I shift to third, the bike dies AGAIN. Pull to the side of the road again. Pull the seat, Look at the battery connections, check the fuses, everything okay. Send two buddies BACK to my house to fetch my Crew Cab. Took OVER two hours for the Truck to get back. Loaded it, figured it was as good a time as any for a Full Service, so took it to my mechanic guy.

Two weeks later, I learned that the POSITIVE connection to the Battery was loose!

Now, back to your deal. Do the lights dim as you ride it? Do the gauges act squirelly (Bounce around, etc)? When my stator went, that was a couple of the things I noticed.

Now THAT, was funny.
I have to check if the lights dim. The gauges weren't acting squirrely. The oil light came on which made me think it was the oil at first.

Had a problem simular to that on my last trip. was accelerating and the FI light came on and bike lost power.

Then the next day I went out to start bike and nothing, like battery was dead. after closer inspection the terminal on the battery had come loose. tightened them up and have not missed a beat since.

Army Strong... I was waiting for this post. Sorry to hear of your misfortune with the bike not starting. I had a similar experience not too long ago but it was just an old weak battery.
My bike started fine and I rode it for about an hour. Stopped for a lunch break at a place that I had never been to before. Food was the terrible, overpriced and the service stunk. So now I'm not happy. Came out and the darn bike hardly cranked at all and wouldn't start. Now I'm even more unhappy with the day. Then it starts to rain but not hard. Super. I considered trying to give it a push start myself but didn't much like the idea of trying to do the run and jump on the bike thing. I figure I'll call one of my friends or my son to come give me a jump. Some young kid going into the restuarant sees my bike and comes over to compliment me on my bike. He is just drolling all over it and asking me a lot of questions. Tells me he has a motorcycle himself but had never seen a bird before in person. He was amazed that it was a 99. Thought that it was about a week old. He didn't know that I was stalled out. Embarrased I mention my misfortune to him and he offers to give me a push. Got it going with a ten foot push. I offer to pay for his lunch since he was nice enough to help me out but the young man wouldn't take a dime. Nice kid. Went and got a new battery. No problems since. Hopefully yours is nothing serious.

Had the same problem with mine, it had a weak battery, had to push start a few times. When it was running it had a very slight surge when riding at a constant speed, a new battery and all is good.It wasnt a lot of fun push starting the BB but you just do what you have to.

Might also be a wiring connection issue since you did have a nasty get off.

Started up fine this weekend, no probs there, but seems like I've lost some power and she just doesn't sound right. She seems to constantly want to stall when I'm giving her power through 3rd gear. Not as much higher than that, but it is happening. Was enjoying the riding too much to check her out, although I did check the battery and wiring was tight. I WILL check that strator this week.
