Escort Passport 9500i. Hard wire it to your bike via a stem mount. Work all the time. Read it up. Escort Radar Detectors & Laser Detectors - The Radar and Laser Experts - Escort Inc.
the best currently on the market is the valentine one.
Escort 8500 still works just fine for me. It sits in a waterproof case on a handlebar stem and is hooked up to a screamer for an audible warning. It even picks up plain clothes radar camera vans at a distance of about 800 meters which is great. However, they are only an aid at best as you don't get much warning when there's a plain clothes HWP car using "instant on". The only way of easily detecting them is if they "paint" someone else a little further down the road. Still, having a detector is better than not having one but you've still got to use your eyes!
Cheers,
Geoff

V1 is the only detector to use.
To be a useful signal you must identify the actual threat level. For this you need to know three things
1. The band (Ka is normally your biggest threat)
2. Strength of signal - how close
3. Where is the signal coming from. If it is in front of you and you are on a partitioned highway - there is no threat.
The V1 is the only detector with the directional arrows and that is why I prefer it. Also, customer service is tops. Of all the instruments/tools etc I have ever owned I have never received the service that I get from Valentine. You buy the item once. They will keep it upgraded if you desire (and even tell you if the upgrades are necessary) and will replace the unit at a reasonable price if necessary (or even free).
Any detector must be used with experience and in accordance with the prevailing conditions (heavy traffic or a lonely road) to be most effective. They also need to be used with common sense and other available nuances such as the speeding teenager or rabbit, and a sharp eye out for cars parked on the side of the road or median. None will protect you from a helicopter or plane threat - that is up to you to detect. Lidar and Laser - does not matter what detector you have - any (including the V1) are only informing you to pull over and wait.

Do you know EXACTLY how fast you were going?
Gee Officer between the speedometer, Cyclometer and the GPS I might have a guess
Whether you need a radar in addition to your laser jammer depends entirely on where you're going to use it. Police use different speed measuring technology in different places. Here in Norway they only use LTI-20-20 laser guns, which is why I only have the Blinder M25 installed..

Haven't used any but the V1.
It works outstanding.
Well worth it's price.
The directional arrows really make a difference.
Use it on the Blackbird and the SUV.....
V-1. Every mag that has ever tested it (that I have ever read I should say) said it was the best at doing what it's suppose to do; sniff out radar. The arrows are great as well as the bogie counter. I was cruising one day when mine went off, shortly there after it said 2. Sure enough, as I passed the cop in the median there was another just a few hundred yards past him in the weeds. With Any other detector you would have been screwed because you would have thought it was still smelling the cop you just passed as you were getting back up to speed and bam; busted![]()
Beltronics STi Driver. I am surprised no one has even mentioned it![]()
