Mods: GenMar risers, Dave's lowering brackets, 6mm shim, Mayer seat, Kaoko throttle lock, MRA Vario Screen.
All the above makes long rides seem short.

I've found that through the twisties my wrists are fine. The long, straight roads give me grief, usually the throttle side.
I'm hoping the risers will help a little more than the Grip Puppies do. |
I have a throttle lock (vista cruise) it works nice to shake it out a little. It takes a little modification of the throttle lock and the plastic under the throttle grip. there is a ridge of plastic you have to dremmel off and then shorten your grip.

6'8, 275 lb.s, sz 17! Back in the college days (& 40 lbs. lighter) I used to touch 11'9 inches on the glass with one step. Dunk in traffic, guard a 2 guard to a 7 footer. But now the Blackbird does all my flying!
No mods. Still can't get that carb thing worked out... puttin it up for sell today. Open to suggestions. Would love to find another Bird. But if not what else should I look for in the same price range?

Phose1 | Sorry to hear you are selling your Bird. I saw a good deal on a 2000 Bird today. Bidding was at 3k with a day left. Anyway I think 2000 and up are FI Birds and you wont have to worry about anymore carb problems. Good luck.

I'm 6'6 5/8 36" inseam. My lovely Redwing Blackbird has some sort of extended bar. I bought a set of Dave Strom's lowering pegs but haven't got around to installing them yet. I was worried I might not be able to operate the shifter but so far so good.

I am 6'2" and just bought a 2002 Bird...would like to lower the pegs since my legs are long. So what are "Buell pegs" and "Dave's pegs"? Maybe I need to search this board a bit.

6" or 181cm tall. Bike works nicely from the factory. Have mounted the bar risers from Jaws, and I must say it made longer trips a lot more comfortable.

Raise the bike up a bit in the rear? | 6mm shim on top of the rear shock will actually raise the seat height by 1" or so (I forgot to measure seat height before and after fitting shim). This alters the bikes geometry making it steer faster. I think that the bike sits a lot steadier on the road now too.

5'10" and 81 kgs... planning to fit the VFR bars... if I can get them shipped to the UK in time for when I'm there to catch the Donington MotoGP... was planning to check with davidsilverspares - would anyone be able to help with the part number for the VFR clip-ons? Thanks, Ravi.
p.s. will probably do the footpeg-lowering brackets as well.

What bar mod has the most increase in height and set back?
I have looked at the Spiegler LSL Handlebar kit and it looks pretty good.
Besides modifying the stock seat, which sounds like the most effective solution to me, does any company offer a substantially thicker/taller seat for the XX?
Finally, since we are talking about old fat tall guys, which is the tallest/biggest windscreen available for the XX?
In addition to the peg lowering barckets and I think these mods will make a better seating position - will let you know.

Tim | Hi Tim, one word. "GOLDWING".
Would'nt it be easier just to drop a BB engine into a Goldwing?
