Gutta Slow Down In Ontario !!!

Ontario's new street-racing law goes into effect on Saturday at midnight and OPP Sgt. Cam Woolley predicts "shock and awe" over the tough new provincial legislation.
If a driver is caught going 50 kilometres over the speed limit, police have the power to impound the vehicle for seven days, issue a minimum $2,000 fine and up to $10,000 and suspend your driver's licence for seven days.

Infractions also include any kind of "stunt" driving, such as popping wheelies or doing "doughnuts" by spinning your vehicles.
Also falling under the law will be motorists who cut off another vehicle.
Motorists who have no intention of street racing could still be snared in the same trap if they aren't paying attention to their speed as they come off the highway.
Be carefull in ontario 150k on a blackbird is just crusing

We have similar laws here in Melbourne - commonly called "Hoon Laws". Vehicles impounded for excess speed, burnouts, donuts, street drags, idiot passengers, etc. Our fines are not that severe, but for the first offence, vehicle impounded for min 48hr, second/third offence vehicle impounded for a longer time, after third offence court ordered permanent confiscation. And there is the court case for the traffic infringement as well.

Not only can the police impound vehicles on sight of the offence, we have a "Hoon Hotline" where you can dob in a hoon. Enough calls for the one vehicle or offence, police will investigate and impound vehicle - especially if is a known or repeat offender.

We had one car driver hang a burnout in the carpark of a pub and drive off. When the police stopped him, the tyres were still too hot to touch. He lost his car for one month and faces serious charges (drink driving, dangerous driving, etc) - not bad for a 51yo.

Not only cars, I have seen a few bikes being loaded onto the back of the tow trucks. Nobody is safe if you want to be a bloody idiot.

The other side is,the punishment is so severe many will run when they see the red lights flashing.I have spoken with several different OPP and Toronto cops over the years and most won't pursue a high speed bike chase scenario, but there's always someone who might. Most cops know they can't catch you and it's too dangerous to try.I have always stopped in the past, but if I'm on the highway(which is the only place over 50k will happen) and traffic is light...
