This should probably go in another forum, but I'll start here.

Weak hand, carpal tunnel surgery, and possible onset of arthritis has forced me to curtail my riding. The clutch pull (force) is the problem.

Talked with many mechanics - hydraulic clutches are not adjustable - tried the lever adjustment, but not much help.

Have investigated alternatives - electric clutch setup - about $1000 and have to find room under the fairing for the new pump.

Has anyone swapped out master cylinders, levers, pumps, etc????

A GoldWing clutch is softer, but not swappable.

Any suggestions gladly accepted

I put Pazzo racing levers on my bike. I used the long ones. They are adjustable and did lighten the pull.
Mike from CTS can help you with the levers.

I take Aleve every morning! Then if that doesn't help, see your Doctor. Indomethiacin is good stuff. Then Celebrex, etc.

CTS Moto is a retailer that has done group buys for Pazzo levers and Wheels.

I am attaching the vendor feedback link from .org. I think you can open it without being a member. [ A+ ] CTS Moto Online - Public Discussion Forums

Hopefully others will post up with their feelings about the levers. I know I won't go back to OEM.

Since you are basically trying to reduce the effort of the lever (clutch lever) on a stock master cylinder you would have to lengthen the lever arm to double it's length to halve the effort. Unfortunately, you cannot reduce the inboard length of the lever arm on the other side of the fulcrum bolt ( to gain mechanical advantage), as it is in a fixed relationship to the master cylinder piston. Your approach to look at different clutch master cylinders designs from other bikes may be valid. I am not sure if the new radial designed clutch master cylinder decrease the effort any. In theory, a smaller diameter clutch slave piston would also give you increased mechanical advantage at the expense of longer lever travel (worth investigating). Harley Davison has made changes to their clutch systems lately in order to reduce clutch pull effort with new designed master cylinder that may also be worth investigating, despite the larger diameter tubular bars.
Another approach, which I wouldn't recommend, would be to reduce the spring tension of your clutch pack. I think this is a bad idea on the XX and would lead to some serious clutch slippage/ burning.

Take a fishing scale and a ruler with you to the bike dealerships and start measuring different designs.

Al,

Thanks for the info. I have two gentlemen friends who are mechanical geniuses who are investigating the master cylinder change-out possibility or levers or combinations of both.

I will pass your info on to them. If I can get this recitified, I will share it with the members.

Debbie

There is a cable conversion kit available for the XX,Barry Henson used to use one on his dragbike.I don't know if it will reduce effort or not,but it might.Contact Velocity Racing 1-866-4-1SPEED.

I wonder if anyone around Cincinnati with Pazzo's could let Debbie feel the difference. A small difference may be enough. The more involved you get in a project, the more things can fail. Some VTR clipons or Helibars might also help with the Carpal Tunnel issues.

I had surgery for the carpal tunnel (clutch hand) and that problem is solved.
The stock bars are fine for me ergonomically, so the heli-bars aren't necessary.

Thanks for the ideas, though.
