I've been riding on and off since 03...I've had the Bird for a couple of months, and in another couple of months the wife will get her license...any recommendations on a first bike for her.
She's 5'8", 140 (she doesn't read anything on the forum, don't let her know I put that on here), and has an extremely heavy right leg while she's caged, 05 Acura TL.
I was thinking the 07 CBR 600RR, perhaps that would be too much. I still want her to be able to keep up with the Bird, and I'm not a speed demon by any means.
Thanks!

someone on here a little while ago got their bride a Honda 599 and it worked out great, seems like a good choice for a first bike.

I think the Yami 600 FZ(?), not the sporty one the other one. And you can fit hard bags with it. My close bud just bought one and it's a fine looking bike and very user friendly. Check their web site. Your wife should know, "it's all in the wrist" Good luck. I also think the 599 is a good choice.

Mine started on a Ninja250 but now she rides a SV650s. She loves it. It is a very easy bike to ride. The V-twin power is very predicable and since it has such a flat torque curve it is very forgiving.

Don't get a brand new bike. Buy something that she can ride for a year and turn without taking a beating and then she will have a better ideas what SHE wants.

The SV or an older 600/500 would be my advise. My fiancé started off on a 1988 FZ600 and, although that thing is a beast to try to keep up on, once we bought her the ZX9 she had NO issues with riding the wheels off of it. She actually finds it easier to handle than the FZ.
I started off on mid 80's bikes and I recommend it to anyone. Cheaper to fix and more forgiving power delivery.
Just my $0.02.

I would suggest Honda 599, Suzuki 500 parallel twin, or SV 650. Maybe even a Ninja 250.

Yeah, and then you'll both start amateur racing and then you'll have a hard time catching her.
I feel your pain brother. 2 Years ago she was a permanent fixture on the back of my XX. Now it's all I can muster to keep with her on the track.

I'm in the same boat, wife wants to get off the back of the Bird. We've had her on the fz6, r6, zx6, 500 ninja, cbr6, sv650, & the gixxer6. She's not a big girl, 5'5" @ 110lbs, we found that she was most comfortable on the gixxer, the only bike she could stand flat footed on. So now we're waiting for our local dealer to get the 08's.
