I can remember filling up my Honda XL350 for a dollar. I could actually ride for quite some time on a quarter worth.

Not many people knew the price's were going to sky rocket soon & thought nothing of those price's at the time. You might want to snap a picture today/now & come back in 5-8 year's & start the thread over again. Seem's likely that gasoline price's will be alot higher by 2014 if you can find it if there is any fossil fuel's left by then.

Hey wockman-what year was that taken?

I'm afraid in 2-3 years fm now, we will be saying the same thing again.

Maybe we have ourselves to blame-yeah the typical family of 3-4 needs a Suburban to go to school/work-and burn 10 miles of gallon and does not need the vehicle to tow or carry 6 kids.

MMMMMMMMMMM. I rememember, in '68, in Cali, 19cents a gallon and 10 X trading stamps. I think that was the year they went to the moon and the movie "Easy Rider" was released. Damn I'm getting old.

I believe it was in late fall or early winter of 2003.

Yeah I remember the gas wars too....................since I live in an oil state and most of my family is in the oil biz this working for us (sorry, but thanks!). Please remember that it's not oil companies driving up gas prices. It's OPEC and Wall Street Futures Traders doing most of it. Locally, you have players that will also hold the price as high as thier local Corporation Commission (or equivellent) will let them. For us the Quik Trip. They're freaking pirates! Oil compnaies still make about 10% profit off thier product but it's the volume thats making them huge money (Starbucks profit margin is 40%). I laugh every time I see an SUV launch from a stoplight like they are in the NHRA knowing they are one of those who bitch about high fuel costs.

My pipeline makes about 0.006 cents per gallon we ship. Seriously, about .25 per bbl. We just cannot ship it fast enough for the demand. Volume, volume, volume and we are breaking records and making good money too.

There are some countries that dont pay squat for gas as they have no regulation on it or demand for it. It's cheap there.

I think what Erling is saying something like "Poor Americans and their $3.00 gas". Due to the pound and what gas costs at the IOM next month I'll be paying $8.00 a gallon...... a sure eye opener I'll bet

I recall being outraged as a high school senior when my favorite Amoco White Gas went up to a whopping $0.67/gal.

I thought it was the end of the world at the time.....

Well... actually, I was hoping it would go to 6 bucks a gallon but 8 would be even better! We deserve it.
