Hey guys my cousin has a CBR 600RR and, He was riding down the road in a high gear (5th or 6th) at low speed (35-40) full throttling it. Came to a stop light and the bike stalled out, started it back up and was running horrible, lot of backfire, sounded like crap, idle was off, runs like crap. If anyone can help would be greatly appreciated, thanks in advance guys.....

What was he doing in 5ht or 6th gear, full throttle, and only going 35? Does he know when to downshift ?

35mph in 5th or 6th?? He should only be in 3rd\4th. Check fuel quality for water etc. (FL fuel quality sucks!!), fuel filter, fouled plugs??, dirty air filter, etc...

I got a hold of some bad fuel and it screwed up my pressure regulator, which caused my bird to do exactly what his bike did. I filled it up, and it gradually got worse and by the time I took it home and tore it apart I found that my plugs were fouled and the whole fuel system had debris in it. So I got to change the filter and regulator.

even if he did just change the plugs...change them again, bad fuel is going to leave the plugs "fouled". I've also gotten in NGK's from Yamaha (I'm parts manager @ a Yamaha outboard dealer), brand new, cracked porcelain straight out of the box. So you never know.

If it's still on warranty... well, you know...

If the fuel trick doesn't work...

First disconnect the battery to reset the ecm...
if it persists then I'd pull the plugs and do a compression test - something is amiss
... I'd be looking for a bent valve (piston/valve contact) or even maybe a jumped cam chain - one tooth would do it...

The tuition at the School of Hard Knocks can get pretty expensive...

I thought (yes it hurt) I read something about NO wide open throttle till after
5 or 6000 rpm for fear of lugging the motor and doing damage. Hope I am wrong.

Hey Karma, I was thinking about this and was wondering if the bike is new/used. How old is it and how long has your cousin had it.

It could've had some trash\debris in the tank that got "flushed" thru the fuel sys, now plugging it up.

i would start with the carbs and work my way back to the tank, checking flow of the hoses, and then see what shows up.
