    My Favorite Ride.

Police on lookout for motorcyclist who crashed, then fled on Sea to Sky Highway

NO that's not me. This is the S2S highway built for the Whistler Olympics. On certain days of the week it's air patrolled. The speed limit is only 80 kph but many bikes get impounded b/c they can't ride it and not get caught. I have not problem with keeping an eye out for dorks on sports bikes. Cisco thinks the po po are two heavy handed. It is a public highway and not the local track. Early it's ok but in the afternoon, weekends, and holidays such as this weekend it's best to be a tourista. link the vid to the story.

OMG, there you are. No, I'm not saying don't ride over the limit. I'm saying choose you time and place. I road the S2S this morning at 7:30 and had no issues. I don't overdo it on the straights and enjoy the corners. It's to early for the helicoptor and even too early for the local gardarnes. Best to get on that highway at first light, no traffic, no problem. Today, for the first time, I used my heated gear to Whistler.

Sheeesh... I thought Ontario was bad enough... And we even have muppets here to make the whole thing worse...
UNDERSTEER is when you hit the wall with the front of the bike.
OVERSTEER is when you hit the wall with the rear.
HORSEPOWER is how fast you hit the wall.
TORQUE is how far you take the wall with you.

    Re: My Favorite Ride.

The commentary on the vid is ridiculous.
There is absolutely nothing more than a subjective "they must be doing over 160" and "look at them fly past that car" malarky.
NOTHING of the things he said would stand in any decent court of law.

    Re: My Favorite Ride.

I wish that were true, Chris. Police in Canadian courts are considered "expert observers". If the PO says you were speeding, you were speeding, regardless what pesky things like facts say.

    Re: My Favorite Ride.

But there is no way to tell without propper equipment!!!!!
I am sure it would not stand in court, especially after showing this footage!
Any solicitor with half a brain would see this out of the window in less than 2 mins!

    Re: My Favorite Ride.

See the part about "expert observers"? It means that, while they may not be able to specify an exact speed, they can still accuse you of exceeding the posted limit and it will not get thrown out. Nanny States don't have any trouble stomping on the rights of the citizens if it is done to protect said citizens from themselves.

    Re: My Favorite Ride.

same here - a police officer can "observe and guess" your speed and can cite you with whatever he feels like, WITHOUT ever needing any equipment (or printed proof) - would still be accepted by ANY court here!

I would tend to agree to that, but surprises still happen and this excuse probably wouldn't hold in court...

The first part is what usually requires a lot of self discipline - pretty, pretty, pretty hard to control that twitch in the right hand
