I live Heli bars. The whole point is they change the riding position. You do not have to reach as far forward or as low. This takes the pressure off your back and wrists. A cheaper option is to get a set of used VFR bars (or a used set of Heli for that matter). Keep an eye out and you could get a set for under $200. The VFR bars are a close match in terms or reach and height. PS: Don't get VFR Heli bars or you will have to change cables and hoses. Skull has a set for $175 + shipping. Hi Dave, some guys on this site wont really help you until you íntroduce yourself in the introduction section, doesn't offend me but some guys are a little bit anal about it, so best to follow what they want if you want to get the most out of this site. Try doing a search for VFR Bars or Helibars and you'll find what your looking for. I have the VFR Bars on my Bird and I love the riding position but there not for everyone as you'll read. If you opt for the VFR bars you'll need to look for '02 to present day VFR bars as they are 43mm, same as your Bird but the earlier VFR bars are 41mm and wont fit. Good Luck, WOL

Hello Dave, I am just a bit west of you. I have a set of Heli bars on one bird and VFR bars on the other. While both alter the riding position for the better my personal preference is for the Heli's. They seems to have a slightly wider stance which suits me, but either get the job done. Mr. Mike.

I run Helie Bars, since '02. They helped create a more comfortable riding position. I'm pleased, they work, I recommend them. imo

I have heli bars on my Bird and I like the riding position, but I was not happy with the finish on the bars. They have a cheap powder coat finish that scratches very easily. But as far as comfort goes, I like them a lot.

I have Heli bars on my '00 'bird and I love the riding position. If you want my opinion definetly worth the money. Even if you can't find a cheaper option.

thank-you all for your help in this matter, I think I might go with the VFR bars just to help make it look more original

I found a pair of VFR bars on Ebay the day after I bought my bird three weeks ago. I won the bid at $92 and suspect I got a deal based upon other prices I've seen on this board. I had them installed last week and I'm so happy with the outcome. You might try Zdeno in your neighbourhood to see if they have a pair hanging around or keep you eye on Ebay and be patient. |

hi guys this is my first post so here goes i also have these bars fitted and they are fab (just completed a tour of scotland 1200 mls round trip )no back or wrist problems would recomend them they do need a couple of mods as posted but well worth it the only problem you will find is that the standard screen will be too short i am 5'8 and have got a MRA vario screen fitted at the moment but this is also still too short and the wind now hits me in upper body (it could do with being 2-3 inches taller) does anybody else have the same problem can anyone tell me what is the talest screen that can be fitted to a bird and who makes it ?a link would be good regards kev |
