First track test

Tomorrow will be the first day out with the new swingarm, can't wait.Probably won't get many passes in since a big car event is going on as well but that should make the track sticky, which I'm going to need.I was practicing easy 5000 rpm soft launnches in the parking lot at work and leaving 20 foot rubber streaks. It was a little disturbing,my stock tire can hook at 5000 on the street. So I'll be playing with shock set-up,it came off Ellixxir's old bike and is probably cranked up a tad for me.Anyway, should be fun,let you know what it does.

Re: First track test

Well it was interesting. My first pass was all wheel spin and the slowest I'd gone in years.A head wind may have explained the 138 mph instead of 139-140 and I was carrying more gas than usual but I really wanted to see what the 66" wheelbase would give me in the first 60'. My previous best was 1.62,today saw 1.52 so all in all a good start.Unfortunately had some air shifter mishaps and only pulled 135.96 mph that pass resulting in a 9.98.My new best is now 9.87.I hope to break that next week.

Re: First track test

Well,a couple times the shift light just stayed on even though it was working properly, but it messed up my concentration. Then once I forgot to refill the air bottle...duh.Another time it was good for 4 shifts then didn't shift to 5th.I was inconsistent as hell but I wasn't looking for consistency too much today.

Re: First track test

Remind me to avoid the blue ones from Sarnia. That seems like a pretty decent time to me.

Do you still use that thing on the street, Al?

Okay, poundy, I'll give you that one. If you're as quick as Partsguy, I'll admit to the blue ones being faster than black ones.

Re: First track test

I am my own worst critic at times, but I was pretty happy with the end result.I was hoping to take 2/10ths off with the longer arm and have managed .13 so far.I know when I get the set up right it WILL GO 9.6's .
No I don't ride it on the street anymore Shewie,66" wheelbase 3" off the ground makes for a poor handling streetbike. And I'm in the London area, but trust me if I was still street riding,Blue is definately the fastest colour.

Re: First track test

Was 16/46 last 2-3 years, tried 15-46 last week and spun the tire at the same rpm (7500-8000),had to back down to 7000 and got 1.57-1.60 60 ft times. Not thrilled because I managed a 1.52 with the 16/46 gearing the week before but the gearing wasn't right at the top end of the track. I'd still reccommend 16/46 because I use an air shifter and that changed things a little, used to top out in 5th before.
