Source for pre-drilled bolts for safety wire?

Anybody knows if I can get bolts with pre-drilled holes for safety wires? I like to try to safety wire all the critical bolts (brake calipers/oil drain bolt/axle bolts etc...) on my XX and I don't have a drill press to drill my own holes.
    Thanks!

Have seen them somewhere, Mike; not sure where though. Some say you can find them at most hardware stores. Try ebay as well. You can also pay someone and have them done for you. Up to $200 bucks, though, I hear. --Waitaminute....

Thanks for the source but the limited bolts that in the kits didn't have what I want (caliper bolts, axle bolts etc...). Guess I'll have to get a drill press and drilling jig to do it myself after all... :-)

I have Rockwell Drill press. Get Grade 5 metric fasteners.

Surely in SoCal you can find someone to do this, maybe in the San Fernando Valley? Try Toad Town Racing in Mission Hills-Gary Swan, 818-891-0330.

I met a room mate of his (Lou) while working out there last summer. Decent chaps, all into British machines, but you would not believe what they do in that little shop behind the house.

Re: Source for pre-drilled bolts for safety wire?

Thanks for the info. But if there are not off-the-shelf stuffs, getting somebody to custom make for me I'm sure it'll cost a lot more than a drill press and jigs... :-)

I'm pretty handy. I just don't have the tools. I guess I can buy a drill press, bolt jigs and do it myself...

Never thought I'd have much use for a drill press until I bought one. Very worthwhile purchase

Re: Source for pre-drilled bolts for safety wire?

Testrider, you should be able to find what you are looking for at any aviation supplier. Safety-wired fasteners are the norm in the aircraft world and there are probably more av-shops in your area than you can shake a stick at.

Re: Source for pre-drilled bolts for safety wire?

Just a side note. I owned an aircraft component companty for a few years, and have wire tied a thousand bolts etc. Pretty well everything in the aviation ind is drilled for wire....however, it is a slightly different thread pitch...as well as most of it is SAE. Now that being said, if i am not mistaken, a lot of the fasteners on are bike are a different pitch from normanl metric as well....ie...now this is where I am a little shakey....normal metric thread pitch is something like 1.5...where as the XX is 1.25...or something along those lines.
    Beware.

Re: Source for pre-drilled bolts for safety wire?

Thanks again guys, I thought even metric 1.5 pitch is still considered standard as they are classified as "coarse" or "fine" threads and can be either way.
