| VFR Clip on Install
The link that detailed the installation of VFR clip ons does not seem to work (or at least I can't get the one I found to work). Could someone repost it. It showed a step by step procedure. Thanks Rod | |

| Re: VFR Clip on Install
Couple of things come to mind regarding any aftermarket..non stock bar install. 1) If you wish to install "new" bars of a longer/higher reach you may need to re-orientate the brake and clutch fluid lines to effect the install. This may include removal of one or both of the locator tabs on each master cylinder (clutch and brake) so the lines can be moved/rotated to allow the stock fluid lines to be retained. This will enable them to have maximum reach as required. A small hack saw, or Dremel tool with cut off wheel can be use to do this mod to the master cylinder locator tabs. The stock lines normally sit between two locator tabs on each MC. 2) If ones does not wish to tamper to much with the stock set up it may be best to loosen the stock bar pinch bolt mounting bolt at the top of the fork tubes before the balance of the throttle and switch block related gear is moved. Yes,..loosen the related MC, throttle and switch block hardware retaining screws and such..but do not attempt to slide them off the stock bar/s in total until the handle bar is loose from the top of the fork tube. Why?...because there is not enough "rope" in the related connective tissue to allow for a complete removal of these sub systems from the stock bar/s prior to there relocation to the new bar,..unless you wish to go into a full blown brake-line removal and related brake/clutch line bleeding process. With care,..the locator tabs might be removed,..the brake line run re-positioned (via a slight loosening of the brake line banjo bolt and re-tightening),.. with the handle bar loose and free of the top of the fork tube you can lift the bar off the tube. Next remove/slide the complete contents of the old bar off the old bar and position on the new bar,..prior to the new bar/s being slipped onto the top of the fork tubes. It is simply a case lifting the old bar off,.. slipping the old bar out ....slip the new bar in..... before the new bar is re-installed to the fork tube top. There will not be enough "rope" to allow the bars to be switched out without major line disconnections if done the other way (can't be done with the bars installed to the top of the tubes first). You will see this as you attempt to remove the front brake MC and throttle sleeve before the stock bar is removed from the top of the fork tube. This I believe sums up most of what is required. To repeat: Slip the stock bars up/off the fork tubes, slide the related hardware off the stock bars...slide the new bars into the hardware....install the new bars down over the work tubes. Sorry for the repetition..just attempting to make sure there is understanding on how it might be done. Tony
