Hey anyone know of a BLACKbird in Rantoul Il? I was on the old Chanute Airforce base yesterday in Rantoul Illinois and saw one parked. It was Black. I'm pretty sure it was a 99 since it looks just like mine with the brownish case covers. It had a Micron 4 into 1 exhaust with a Carbon Fiber Can. It had a chromed out frame. It also had GemMar risers on it or something similar for the bars. It had aftermarket foam grips and a smoked Lockhart screen along with a half tank bra. It also had a corbin seat with a slight tear on it. The base is mostly closed down these days but it still houses an air museum and a school.

You're describing a tar snake. Very imaginative, though.
Rantoul, huh? I worked for Hudson Technologies once upon a time and had to fly up to their place in Rantoul for training. Effin near blizzard conditions. It sucked. There was a really good Mexican restaurant, there, though. Wondered what the hell it was doing in Rantoul.

I have friends in the Rantoul area that are farmers. When I was younger (16-17) I used to go down often and help them around the farm. Nice people. I was also hot for one of the daughters friends so that kept me coming... well coming back until I finally broke it off with her. The daughter was also nice but she was already dating on of my friends. Winters are no fun around here (Chicago is about 2 hours North of Rantoul) or there. Nothing to stop the wind down there. There is still a Mexican resturaunt in town but I don't know if its the one you are talking about. I'm thinking the bird belongs to someone in the military. The air base is shut down but the school is run by the National Guard and has a lot of military folks running it. The bike was parked close to the school area so I'm thinking it belongs to one of the instructors/military people running the school.

The Mexican restaurant was about a block off the main drag, IRC.
Yeh, the winters suck up there. At least you can probably snowmobile or something once in awhile.
Were you able to leave a note on the bike?

No I didn't leave a note. Didn't think about that and didn't have anything to write with at the time. I'll be back down there again in a couple of weeks and I'll see if I can find it again. If so I'll leave a note and ask the owner to join us on the forum.

Last year was a little abnormal and we had a ton of snow, and every Hillbilly but me collecting a paycheck went out and bought a snowmobile.

Well I'm not a hillbilly and I was collecting a check but didn't go out and buy a snowmobile. Actually I've had them in the past but like Hillbilly4eva points out we don't always get enough or consistent snow fall for good snowmobiling conditions. When we get it we get it good though. I used to go way up to the North woods of Wisconsin and the upper pennisula of Michigan and often times they didn't have enough snow for good snowmobiling conditions. Ended up selling them because they were only get used about once or twice a year. If anyone ever wants to get great deals on used snowmobiles all they have to do is look around the Chicagoland area. I got two snowmobiles with less then 500 miles on the dial and a trailer for under $5K USD when I bought mine.
