After two weeks on vacation and 8 days and 6000+ miles on the original
saddle I came home... removed the packs (including the one resting on
the back portion of the original saddle) and put my Corbin Smuggler back
on the bike. WOW... the Corbin saddle was completely wrong for my
ergonomics on the bike. The saddle is flat, not angled towards the front
of the bike... way too laid back ... not supportive to my butt, back etc.
It's a fine saddle, but just not designed for me on this bike.
Has anyone else experienced this? Unless there is some "fix" for this
problem... I imagine I will eventually offer it up for sale.
This is part of the bike I received when purchasing the bike used, not
purchased by me as new for the bike... thank godness!
Other than this... the vacation trip covered 17 states and some great
country, especially in Oregon and Montana. Unfortunately, I pushed the
pace while traveling to and from California... so my sightseeing was a bit
less than ideal. Will have to rectify this the next time around.

What you could consider is taking it to an upholstery shop and getting the foam molded for you. The Corbins do make your legs spread out compared to the stock but the comfort level for me is way better with it. I might take mine in and have them shave about 1/4" so my inner thighs have more room.
Somthing to ponder.............

Spent another day on the Corbin and I am even more disappointed in it.The saddle is great, but the ergos are completely wrong for me. If I wantedto move the bars back 4 to 6 inches and make a cruiser out of the XX itwould be one thing, but I want to return the original handlebar setup to itand ride it as a street worthy sport bike. Does anyone have the original handlebars? Is anyone interested in theCorbin Smuggler saddle and frame?

I agree. I bought a bike with the Corbin seat and Heli bars.
For me the stock clip-ons and seat are better with my posture. But with the Heli bars I like the Corbin seat. But I have not been 6000 miles either.

I have a corbin seat as well, as you say the ergonmics are all wrong. There is 4 inches of seat behind me that doesn't get used, that space could go towards making the passenger seat a little roomier.

I have a 2001, the original seat came with it. I am going to polish it up and give it a try.

I will have to say though is that the stock seat is an ass killer on long rides. I prefer my Corbin.

I have a Corbin GunfighterLady and I like it very much, 110,000 kms of touring. No, it doesn't fit me perfectly, I'm too short so I don't fill the "ass space" provided but I'm still very comfy on it and so is my wife. I just found a very affordable back rest for her and now she's very comfy. I rode 15,000 kms on the original, West coast to East coast return and I prefer the Corbin. I'ts well broken in now, and as my big old ass gets bigger, it's even more comfy.

My dad and I both have had the gunfighter on our XX as well as on our old 1000 Hurricanes. They are not perfect, but we both like them way more than stock. I hate the stock seat. Dad sent his back to Corbin to do some customizing and seems happier now. He is pretty short so he had the sides trimmed a bit and lowered, as well as have the bum-stop moved forward slightly. They do charge to redo the seat, especially after 9 years. The only complaint that I have with the Corbin is the 3 -4 inches behind my ass (bum-stop) that could, as someone mentioned, be better used for passenger comfort. I wouldn't want to take all the extra space away, as I do like to be able to move around.
I thought that Corbin can custom build a seat, which may be a good option. Or check out Sargent (spelling??) and others.
Take care,
ominousone

I tried a Corbin seat on my XX off a friend's bike. I rode the Richard Russell Scenic Hwy. in north GA. and this was my conclusion:
Prostate Killer!
I quickly got my modified stock seat back on and was a happy camper the rest of the day.

I have the gunfighter as well, came w/the bike when I purchased it so I have no comparison to the stock seat. It seems very comfortable for me and the extra 3 or 4 inches get taken up when I tuck in for some "spirited" riding. I agree that an inch or two could be better suited for passenger comfort.
